I very much hope that he will be able to rematch Kotelnik.
Their first encounter was a pretty close fight which could have gone either way. They both fight for the same promoter.I guess a rematch between them can easily be staged.

Maidana left another opponent on the canvas in pain! Chino beat undefeated Roy Jones imitator Victor Cayo in a WAR!!!

Here's the KO gif, perfect shot, he didn't even care Cayo was messing with his head (lol), he waited and bang, you got KTFO bro!

I'm starting to become a big fan of Maidana...yeah definitely not the most skilled boxer out there but you can't deny he makes exciting fights.

That body shot he landed on Cayo was brutal.

EDIT: Just saw the body shot that Maidana landed on William Gonzalez in his first defense...ouch.

That was a hell of a body shot by Maidana.Cayo had some good effective movement at times, but was alittle to cocky holding his gloves down by his sides with a big puncher like El Chino.

Cayo has a great future in front of him despite losing to Maidana. I would really like to see Cayo again. He has talent, speed, and smarts. Just wasn't up to par with Maidana, at least not yet.

Was brutal, wasn't it? But I thought the commentator stole the show, was a bit overly emotional, but I liked it!

Respect for Marcos Maidana! Chino takes on avoided top light welter Tim Bradley on June 19!

No one wants to touch Tim Bradley: he's a superb boxer with all the goods for P4P greatness but with low marketablity, and no one wants to be his stepping stone for popularity, that's why he was forced to look for a fight at 147. Not anymore: the light welterweight upset kid Chino Maidana stepped up and takes on Bradley on June 19 in a scincillating fight on HBO! Bradley is a class above Maidana and should be heavily favored to put on a clinic, but it's boxing and Chino has a 93% KO ratio to knock your gameplan out, just ask Victor Ortiz and Victor Cayo.

This is such a great fight because Bradley, the far superior boxer showed chin issues in the Holt fight and Maidana is raw and can be outboxed, but has a huge heart and some skills he's not being credited for. A really good boxer vs. a really hard puncher, what more can you ask? I'd say Maidana is more awkward than raw and showed some boxing vs. Kotelnik, his only and very close loss vs. the highly defensive counterpuncher, and he improved under Miguel Diaz, becoming the only two-fisted body-KO artist in the sport. And I'd also say Bradley has a better punch than being credited for, and since Chino can throws 100 punches per round, you just can't rule out ANY outcome! Of course respect goes to Bradley as well, Maidana also has a horrible risk/reward ratio, but whoever comes out on top will have no marketability issues anymore: it will be a fight and fighter to remember!

Bradley will beat him quite easily in my opinion. It's a great match up nonetheless as Maidana always has that punchers chance.

:thumbsup I remember him blowing out dudes before Kotelnik, but I became a fan in that fight (and opened this thread shortly after). It was a big step-up for Chino but made Kotelnik work extra hard to retain the title, and dispite the close loss in a superb fight, it was a valuable experience, and he looked like a future player in the division. I was one of the 3-5 guys here picking him to upset Ortiz, and boy Chino went through hell to break Victor's resistance, but ultimately he did. Gotta admit I thought the quick handed and highly talented Cayo could fight a discipline fight and figure Maidana out, but Marcos once again brought it to his opponent and beat the sh*t out of him. Such determination, multi-angle and multi-target style and punching power is usually an extreme risk in boxing.

Reading such things as Ortiz and Cayo 'easily outboxed' him is rather odd knowing the results. In my view Chino is similar to Calzaghe in a way he needs some time to adjust to the opponent and therefore vulnerable early, but surprisingly effective as the fight goes on. No limited brawler woud've found the room for the overhand right that broke Ortiz down and Chino timed the last body shot pefectly vs. Cayo. His big disadvantage is his defense, but you better show a great defense and power of your own or he'll never stop coming. Sure Bradley is favored and rightfully so. But Maidana is very capable to upset all top players in the division and I look forward to a great fight!
