    Maidana by KO.
    Bad pick for Khan.
Precisely the kind of fighter he should avoid.
Maidana shows no respect and goes right thru Khan.

IMHO, I think Khan's chin and his punch resistance is way underrated, but then again I can understand why they think it since he went down from a guy like Willie Limond :l.

In the fights he was dropped, he was always way open for them (most being a left hook).

Now, his defence is so much tighter, moves up by 5 pounds (Which potentially could make a small or big difference to his punch resistance), his legs are a lot stronger with the strength conditioning, and his footwork and ring generalship is much better.

I'm sure a lot of people are saying Maidana will win purely on the fact that Khan can't take a punch or his lack of punch resistance, but skills wise? No. Khan can definetly outbox him.

This really is a make or break fight for Khan and would most definetly be a 50/50 fight as we don't know if Khan can take the shots.

    Verdict:
If Khan can take shots: Khan (W) UD or TKO 5-12
If Khan can't take shots: Maidana (W) TKO or KO 1-12

Which explains why Amir's camp have already stated that he will vacate the belt if Maidana becomes his #1 contender! The thing is, he's going to have to face a world class puncher at some point, maybe it should be one at 140 who is not the most skilled! Like you I believe that it could be a bad night for Amir, but it would not be a shock if he out-boxed Maidana for the 12 (Mind you, 36 minutes is a long time to go without getting your beard tested!!).

khan is far too fast for maidana. he will stop him early on. ortiz proved too quick for him an maidana is in way over his head here. he got out speeded by kotelnik for cryin out loud. khan will blister him wi combos before he gets close enough to hit him.

khan needs to prove himself against a pressure guy with a chin. prime hatton wouldve been ideal. now i think hes too old.

    lets see him against campbell!

I think that, if Khan wins, he'll have won. But if Maidana wins, he'll have won.

Either Maidana KO within 5, or Khan cruises to a wide decision. Maidana hits like a mule, but in the later rounds, he tends to sacrifice his power in favor of workrate (like he did in the Kotelnik fight). Khan would definitely fight moving backwards and throwing tons of punches all night, so the question is whether Maidana can cut off the ring and do so early. He's better at cutting off the ring than guys like Prescott or Urango.

I honestly think this is a 50/50 fight, and I'm hesitant to pick a winner.

Khan hasn't shown enough as yet to show that he has sufficiently improved his defence against someone who can pressure him, regardless of power.

So, it could go either way.

If he can land, Maidana by KO.
