i didn't know **** about acosta before Rios except that he ko'd Antillon but looking back acosta ko'd then ring magazine ranked 4 antillon and ranked 8 paulus moses, he was the first to do it too.

I agree. The guy is a relentless as they come. He keeps coming and isn't easily detered when things don't go his way early in the fight. So many young fighters fall apart when that happens but not with Rios. He has an iron will kinda like Froch who believes he's never out of a fight no matter how far behind on the card he is. You can't teach that type of stuff you're born with it.

Acosta was a the real deal has been for quite some time now just flew under the radar because of where he's from. I rate Rios' win over Acosta very high.

also like i said his defense is underrated, he parried and blocked most of acosta's straight shots so acosta started landing using angles, few rounds later rios learnt to roll with those punches, he was moving his head and slipping them and countering with power jabs.

Robert Garcia says Rios is far from the finished product, he plans on working a lot more on head movement and the jab, he wants him to have a cotto like jab he said and to teach him not to stand too squared up.

Chino ain't going to be doing that as well. Rios is bigger and a better fighter, he holds all of the advantages in this fight (except power). Would be an absolute barn burner while it lasted though

Its a shame gbp and top rank dont get along, Rios a while back said he would love to fight Maidana as it would show people exactly what level he is at.

Rios has the more dynamic offense but unless his defense were to improve a lot, I'm not sure he could take Maidana's power for 12 rounds. Maidana would probably be able to take what Rios dishes out.

Can't see Maidana being stopped in the near future... the crazy ****er walks through fire just to get off his shots (just look at Khan and Ortiz for proof, both good punchers).

Then again Rios is a great fighter in his own right.

One things for sure though, this would be a ****ing war.

I would love to see this fight! I give the edge to Maidana but its kind of tough to pick out a real winner.

I do agree that Rios is like a Margarito mini-me and would apply pressure all night long. But Maidana is what he loves and performance best when they stand toe to toe with him on a slugfest. If that were to happen, which I am sure Rios would do, I think Maidana with his better punching power will take the win.
