Segura won TKO 8 in a great bout. My guy lost but what a fight, Calderon bring the wrong game plan too, stepping toe to toe with Gio was going to cost him, and sooner or later he took a knee and lost by KO.
Round 4 Maidana swinging hard now, and rocking Corley even with blocked punches. Corley tucks his chin and tries desperately to lean into Maidana to stifle his outbursts. The referee waggles a finger at Corley. WTF is going on with that? They wrestle in the last few moments of the round.
The first three rounds were very close. I've been too excited to score them, just watching and reporting. The 4th was Maidana's though. He had Corley hurt early...or at least in danger.
I called it, i said Marcos might not be focused on this fight as he got Khan stuck in his head thinking about him. Like i said i hate when a big time favorite fighter won't focused on the fight but on something else. Watch if Maidana wins it barely, many here will say "Khan will destroyed Maidana easily". ^^^Watch people.
Round 5 Maidana lunges with a 1-2 and gets double-jabbed in the face by a mobile Corley. This is the same nice boxing Corley exhibited in the early rounds against Hernandez before he got caught. Maidana is investing well to the body, though. Nice right hand from Maidana to the breadbasket of a moving target. They wrestle a bit and Corley tries to work his hands but the referee breaks them up. Maidana lands a hybrid hook thrown more like a left uppercut as his stance gets ambiguous for a moment. Round 6 A hard right check hook from Corley saves his hide as Maidana begins to wobble him. Corley is warned for headbutts (unintentional) resulting from them grinding together on the ropes. Maidana throws a 1-2-4 with good form but looks tired and doesn't have much snap on it. Corley gets rocked moments later by a series of right hands as Maidana suddenly gives himself a mental shot of espresso! Corley looks to grab! He leans, he flops, he GRABS!
Round 7 Corley jabbing and moving. Maidana comes at him with the tried and true 1-2, especially focusing on the body. Corley calmly turns the corner and hooks at the oncoming Maidana, but succumbs to a right hand (set up by a nose-brushing left hook) that has him kneeling on the canvas. Maidana goes for the finish! Corley crumples down on the inside as Maidana mauls him, it's ruled a slip.
Round 8. Corley is mostly staying away from Maidana, stopping at the corners to pop a jab. Maidana traps him on the ropes and throws a few bombs but misses as Corley slips as well as he still can. Maidana throws an underhand left into the hip of Corley. They both voluntarily fall into a clinch and take a breath. Maidana throws a show-stopper right hand that falls just barely shy. Corley takes a body shot and up-jabs at Maidana's face while trying to get away. Maidana staggers into a corner for some reason. He either lost his footing for a moment or was affected more than usual from a Corley body tap.
Round 9. Both fighters are weary. Maidana throws curling punches to the side while Corley blocks and lives up to his moniker with chopping right jabs and left crosses. Both men are missing, with neither setting their feet to punch. Maidana finally stops and throws while Corley circles and tags him a little. Corley ties him up and resets with his jab when they break. Corley in a bit of a groove now, moving and hooking. Maidana hurts him with a body shot against the ropes and Corley spins him in a clinch! THEY TRADE! Arm punches from both exhausted warriors.
Round 10 Maidana misses a left hook and literally hip-checks Corley into the ropes. These men are GASSED. Corley eats a flush right hand and drops a little combo on Maidana's face in return. Corley has slightly better speed at this stage despite being as visibly tired as Maidana but the Argentine has the more telling blows despite their sluggish delivery. WOAH! Sweeping left haymaker from Corley just misses the chin of Maidana. Even Maidana was clearly thinking "WTF?!?!". Corley throws a right hook and Maidana ducks and begins to flurry, starting at the body of Corley and working up. They trade shots at close range. This is a GREAT FIGHT.
