Oscar would have whooped him IMO. Oscar would crush a left hook into Marco's liver and drop him. Only to get back up and have Oscar whale on him till the ref stops it

De la Hoya would win a wide decision.

 

DLH stops him after outboxing him in just about every round. Big talent difference here. I would favor many welterweights to beat Maidana just from 1995 on. I think it's more suitable to pair Maidana with someone like Luis Ramon Campas, Jose Luis Lopez, Carlos Baldomir, etc. than the top brass.

Prime Maidana wasnt very good, his power and sometimes wreckless style kept him in fights where he should have gotten waxed. Prime De La Hoya would have had his way with chino and wins by stoppage with a left hook to the body.

 

No way, ODH didn`t throw enough right hands to stop Madaina.

To me this is like the ODLH vs Mayorga fight. Mayorga and Chino fought above their talent level and had some success against better fighters, but didn't go on to achieve much more. Chino still got outboxed hanidly by past prime Mayweather in the 2nd fight and Mayorga only dusted Forrest to get beat by Trinidad, ODLH, and Mosely, among others. They are B+ fighters with A+ moments.

 

I dont consider Maidana an A level fighter, more like a B level and maybe a B+ level fighther on his best night.
Prime for prime DLH's jab keeps Maidana at bay and his speed pretty much shuts down Maidana's offense and keeps him in defensive mode for most of the fight.
Wide decision victory for DLH and if Maidana at some point in the fight wants to go for broke, its he who gets stopped as DLH as the chin to weather any type of a storm Maidana may come at him with.
