So this guy managed to get two fights against Mayweather and lost both.
What are your opinions on him? Is he a good fighter who deserves to stand out (to an extent)? Or is he now just another slow plodding power puncher?
Because I saw (don't bag me for this) his All Access episode and it seemed like he had a ton of fans. Almost like he was a true big boxing star (of course, the network probably tried to exaggerate but to what extent?).

Since the Mayweather rematch, there have been conflicting opinions on him. Some say he is great, is improving, and will continue to be great in the future. Other say he is nothing special, and it was all hype at the time.

I'm not asking for a debate or anything. I just want to hear opinions.
Please no flame war. Please try to be unreasonably biased. I'm a fan of Maidana's and I just want to hear some general thoughts.

    Thanks.

hes good but his improvements could be well exaggerated well see in his next fight he hasnt fought a good top welterweight, i dont think hes in the top 5 anyways. His 140 record is ok

People are going to mention his losses before FMJ, but those were at 140 and without Robert Garcia.

I think he gives anyone at 147 hell, win or lose. Would love to see him against Thurman.

He's definitely a fan favorite due to his style

He's a brave fighter and gives most a very hard night he is popular because of his style but his style will also mean he will probably have around two years left of being able to win some biggish fights . Then it's all downhill

Maidana is still unproven at WW.with Garcia or without him.

Maidana record in WW is 4-3.biggest wins were against Josesito Lopez and Adrian Broner.we don't really know where he stands.definetly upper level of WW'S,but until he fights somebody else top WW we don't really know.if we include Broner as top WW(and that is reaching) his record is 1-3 nothing shameful about losing to Floyd of course.

Hope Marcos will fight somebody good next,so we could know better where he is ranked at the moment.

Fan friendly style, but so far has lost everytime when he stepped up in the competition.earned his reputation mostly,by beating overhyped about billions Broner.who was also the most hated man in boxing.so it's easy to thing Maidana get extrs points from that fight.

Porter,Alexander rematch,Khan,Bradley,Brook,Pacquaio,Marquez fight somebody against on that list.then we know better.

Didn't include Guerrero or Thurman.because both are still unproven forces at WW.

Under Garcia , Hes a very good fighter and a threat to any other WW .

Despite losing both fights to Floyd , he still made it very competitive in those 24 rnds and had Floyd looking banged up at the end of BOTH fights .

Floyd wont say it , but Chino indeed had success against him which he never expected Chino would .

Maidana should not feel ashamed at all by either performance .

he's a decent top 10 WW, don't think he's top 5, when he's stepped up in class against better boxers, Koletnik, devon, khan + mayweather x 2 he's lost.

his best win is probably a pre mayweather Ortiz who was half decent, or Broner.

after the mayweather fights does maidana have the motivation to work his way up the rankings etc?, he's probably set for life financially. My guess is he'll have a big money fight against Mattysse in Argentina and will retire.
