5- 2, tough round Malinaggi, Malinaggi had great spurts and while it seemed like earlier in the round Cotto had Paulie on the run and catching him with heavy hooks. Towards the end Paulie stayed in the pocket and won the round off of flurries and work.

    :thumbsup

For someone's first two 10-rounder opponents, I can't think of many better candidates than Campbell and Theophane without venturing into the "danger zone!". A trickster and a veteran. Quality education.

    Round 8

Cotto is pressuring, working the right to the body and the left hooks up to the face. Malignaggi is landing when he jabs straight out but is getting away from the jab a bit and favoring sweeping hooks off the back foot that all miss. Cotto comes in behind his cross-arm guard and blocks jabs, but doesn't get close enough to land. Malignaggi runs to his right, then takes a springing step to his left. Double jab by Malignaggi sets up a long weak flurry to the guard. Cotto chases him down and digs a left hook to the gut but it isn't enough.

    78-74 Paulie Malignaggi

If Paulie knew how to throw an uppercut this fight could had been over.

5 -3, Malinaggi, Cotto won the round by landing the more significant blows. Both had low workrate and Paulie was hitting a lot of glove this round. Cotto got it on effective aggression for me.

:yep I really think they've managed Garcia excellently. They've given him respectable opponents for the spot in his career he's fighting them and they're giving him very valuable experience. Campbell, Theophane, Arnaoutis, all in his first 21 fights. None great, but all solid guys, with a name, all very different. He's dealt with all of them. A perfect happy medium. They're not padding his record to manage him effortlessly to a title shot, and they're not just throwing him to the wolves right away either. This is how prospects should be managed, ideally, imo. They're doing a great job with this kid.

    Uh oh...epic trilogy?

    Edit:

 See, IB knows what I'm talking 'bout.

    I can't help but like Diaz. I really can't. I am the anti-Xsplosive.
