Im sorry IB,but the dumb statement was you and everyone else stating Morales doesn't have a chance against a fighter like Maidana.

    Just admit it.

He looked beyond terrible against Lorenzo.

But credit to him, not only his heart and skill but he looked to be in much, much better shape then any of his comeback fights.

    I meant Lorenzo not Alfaro.

You seem to be looking at it like people were overrating Maidana or something, making him out to be some great invincible beast.

I've been a Maidana skeptic for a long time...hell, dating back to the Ortiz fight.

I just didn't like what Morales had shown in the last few years, and saw serious enough decline that it didn't seem he should be stepping in with the physically largest and strongest opponent of his career when it seemed it should already have ended.

    :deal:deal

    Yes, exactly!

Everything was pointing to thinkin' I was about to watch Eric Morales get KTFO bad style (cause he wouldn't have it any other way) in no more than 3 or 4.

Man, that was good as hell. My vocabulary is inadequate to describe the ****in' awesomeness of that fight/event.:yep

    Fair enough. :good

He did do what you said in the Alfaro and Limond fights...but then just months later couldn't manage to against a crappy and weathered old FL. That's what made it seem he was on a decline.

I wouldn't make out Maidana to be some bum.

He arguably beat Kotelnik and he almost knocked out Khan. Dude is a true contender, but Morales exploited all his weaknesses.

I'm gonna build a shrine to Morales.

and Morales was noticeably SHOT and was an one-eyed fighter for the entire fight...Hollywood couldn't make this up.

Sometimes guys that have been in very high profile fights for a long time, just don't seem to get that mental edge when fighting low profile fights again?:think

But I know what you're sayin'...

    Well-phrased.

You could argue either way, in that one.

I get annoyed when people call it a flat-out robbery or disgraceful example of home cooking...because it just wasn't.

That's actually a great point. He could have been in a funk, fighting down to the level of opposition and really capable of this kind of performance all along but just saving it for the "big stage".

I suppose those close to him would be the ones to know, but it's sure as **** not impossible....we see it all the time really.

I'm just glad as **** to be a boxing fan today.

I wonder what difference it would have made if the eye hadn't been damaged in the first? We knew Maidana was crude but his power seemed to carry him. Now I'm starting to wonder about the power. I'll have to see a better copy but it did look like Moralis did a good job not getting hit too flush quite a bit.

With all the technology hoolywood has the would never be able to recreate this epic fight.
