Yes. Maidana is a good contender. You can't ignore the fact that he obliterated two undefeated hot prospects and ran two champs very close. Also, it is a severe disservice to the insane feat that Morales just had to call Maidana anything less than a good fighter, and a top name in his division.

The most incredible part was that Morales stunned Maidana on several occasions...the same Morales who has had almost no success against top level fighters above 130.

I was noticing all kinds of subtle defense **** from Morales. From flat out slippin' ****, to blockin' with his gloves and I really noticed him doin' some crafty **** to block body shots with his elbows.

Plus, he was doin' a awesome job of blockin' Maidana's headbutts with his glove. Maidana kept tryin' when they got close to get his head around to Eric's right side and rub in his cut eye, but Eric kept blockin' it out with his glove. (made me wonder why you don't see more of that tactic when facing a "head" kind of guy)?

Experience still counts for something I guess. At least that is what us old farts like to say.

OK. Up to 66 now. :D

Man, I think it was around the 4th or 5th when Eric landed that big ass hook, I swear I don't think EM knew how hurt Maidana was because of how Maidana was fallin' in for a clinch, then it got broke up in the corner kind of "oddly" with EM's back to the dazed Maidana.

I would have like to see EM jump on him right there.

I think it was around the 6th...but we are talking about the same punch. Too bad Erik couldn't go and just KO him. But he was fighting in spurts, you can't ask more from a shot fighter.

Again, I can't stress this enough. Morales physically looked like dog sh1t. But his will to win was incredible.

Ledderman had it a draw and Max had Morales winning.

So my score was the same as both Watt's and Lederman's. :think (and seemingly a majority or at least sizable percentage of fans)

Did Max at least have it close or was he in full on fanboy mode, with Morales pitching a shutout? :yep

He just mentioned that he had Morales winning. I don't recall a specific score but im sure it was close (that's how he was calling the fight).

Max Kellerman's rule of,"Which fighter would you rather be at the end of the round" rule? How about which fighter would you rather face in your next fight? Morales might be a bigger threat?

True, but for eleven rounds there wanting to be Morales meant wanting to have your right eye inflated and the color of this fella:

Man what a sickass weekend for boxing. We need more of these if we are gonna bring the sports back to bigtime.

My point was really, who would opposing fighters rather face after watching that fight? Well, assuming the modern day ethic of careful match ups. Maidana brings enough power and energy to beat you down. Morales still has enough ring smarts to make his power effective in spots.

Where does this fight put Morales though? Even if you believe he didn't lose the fight where does he go next? Devon Alexander might be a good match up. It would be more a boxing match.
