Hopkins is waiting on Charlo. Jab feints by Charlo, and a hook to the body leaning in. Hopkins tries to time him with the right hand, but is a beat too slow. Charlo is darting in with the double jab up top and disappearing when Hopkins starts to pull the trigger, picking up on subtle telegraphing motions. Charlo is very jittery circling around Hopkins. Lead right by Hopkins, missing by several inches. Charlo jabs at Hopkins' nose, walking him down. Hopkins uses lateral movement, cutting semicircles around Charlo while pulling away from the jab. Hopkins still wants to land a counter right hand but is wary of Charlo's reaction speed and quicker hands.

Exactly...not to mention, there is no HBO RBR going on here. Nobody has bothered making one here in my stead, it seems. The 1st page of the forum doesn't have any threads mentioning anything like Dawson vs. Stevenson and/or Gamboa vs. Perez in the title. It beggars belief that it was an innocent "mistake".

 

Round 5

Hopkins is circling left and waiting for a chance to throw his right. Charlo slides in and lands the double jab but moves off, eluding the right hand. Charlo jerks back from a chopping Hopkins right, brought uncharacteristically high up in the air before descending unlike his preferred straight right.

Round 6

Solid right hand by Hopkins. Charlo holds. Quick break by the ref. Double jab and right hand by Charlo before tying up again. Charlo is peering out between his thumbs and rolling his head from side to side. Jabs from Charlo. Hopkins moves his head to slip them. Triple hook from outside by Charlo, blocked. Several downward swipes by Hopkins pressing in as Charlo sits back. 1-2 by Charlo. Hopkins gets close enough to score a jab. Another counter jab by Hopkins, timing the younger and faster man. Hopkins ducks and turns his cheek to let a Charlo left hook narrowly skate past with only slight contact if any.

10-9 Hopkins, nice defense and high % with his counters.

Round 7

Hopkins moves into the path of a stunning Charlo right hand. Hopkins shakes it off and keeps warily circling right. Left hooks by Charlo, trying to bash down Hopkins' protectively nested right glove. Chopping right by Hopkins, missing. Quick combo by Charlo, staggering Hopkins. It was a delayed reaction so Charlo had already let the opportunity to follow up on it slip away while they circled wider apart. 1-2 by Hopkins. Charlo flurries up at a steep angle, missing over Hopkins' head as he tilts back at an angle.

Round 8

Left hook by Hopkins. Charlo is waving the left jab. Hopkins coils up, doing nothing for periods, playing possum and then exploding with a quick untidy jab and chopping right, arching his spine as he falls in. The end result is not much landing. Charlo keeps on his toes circling a little outside his own range, throwing single uppercuts and double jabs or hooks when he turns Hopkins, whose defensive instincts let him roll with everything despite Charlo's quickness. The end result is not much landing cleanly.
