This should be a blowout.

Then again, Maidana is far more prime/beastly than either of those guys and should produce a spectacular KO, while those two should go the distance.

Round 1

Petrov can't wait to get to the middle of the ring and skips there before the first bell has even rung. Petrov takes some jabs and torpedo rights to the body while backing up. Petrov is using the entire ring and Maidana isn't cutting it off, just throwing long spears. A couple of shots from Maidana whip around the sides and are partially blocked but send Petrov bouncing off the ropes and careening off to one side. Maidana loads up a big right and Petrov just ducks beneath it. Hard right while literally jumping forward with both feet in the air by Maidana, landing plunk on the chest and getting a roar from the partisan Buenos Aires crowd. Petrov is barely avoiding some of the wild-swinging flurries of Maidana, who's getting busier and more fervent in his efforts. Petrov is pushes into the corner by some relatively direct lefts that could maybe be called jabs. Big clubbing overhand right by Maidana. Petrov's glove touched the canvas.

Unless it's one of those Solo Boxeo cards that starts with the main event!

Pretty sure he scraped a knuckle on the ground while ducking into that clubbing attack (which was mostly rabbit punches and hammers to the back).

 

Round 2

Maidana is swinging both arms heavily at Petrov in a pretty swift blur while stampeding him. Petrov uses lateral movement to keep fleeing to the ropes (there catching Maidana and pulling his head down) and pops out a few arm-punch flurries while skimming forward on tiptoes like a Jesus lizard to buy some time during Maidana's breathers. The referee warns Petrov to watch his head after a clinch. Petrov is throwing plenty of leather, flurrying as he circles Maidana close and keeps clinching him. Another illegal blow by Petrov to the small of Maidana's back. He is warned.

This elf is not ****ing around!

20-17 Maidana

 

Round 3

Maidana jabs Petrov into the corner and then flinches back as the Russo-Spanish challenger leaps forward to clinch, leading with his shrunken-looking rhombus head. Petrov is standing in and whipping out scooping right hands to the body of Maidana. They're trading shots at close quarters while quickly circling! Good action! Both missing a lot as they're not setting their feet to punch. Maidana's shots are obviously much heavier. Petrov is knocked back into the corner and bounces away a few feet only to get stuck on the ropes. BIG right by Maidana hurts him and has him shaking a leg. Maidana jabs his way after him, and puts up forearm pillars to block the flurries when Petrov stands and delivers in the pocket before darting back out. Overhand right and a pair of slapping left hooks by Maidana bash through Petrov's guard at the end of the round.
