What's the Classic forums thoughts on this tough, Featherweight scrapper from Mexico? The guy has been in some hellacious scraps during his career and has been against some known fighters such as Azumah Nelson, Jeff Fenech, Antonio Esparragoza, Paul Hodkinson, Jaime Garza. Not a skilled technician but he always came forward and threw bombs while possessing a very sturdy chin.

A severely overlooked and exciting Featherweight who would have given a tough night for a lot of fighters at his weight class.

He was very tough and not talked about enough. And he literally fought ANYONE.
I think when he finally received attention from the public he was past his best.
Fought Azumha two times. Fought Jeff French once.
    Very tough and rugged boxer.

Villasana was like a pitbull and he epitomized stereotypical "Mexican style" of fighting with the way he fought. He was unlucky to share the same era with Nelson and Fenech. You have to be a really gifted fighter to convincingly beat Villasana.

This guy was made of iron from his head to his hands. Real dangerous puncher too. He'd do well against the greats at the weight imo, although some would have extreme stylistic advantages.

Aside from maybe Laporte, never seen a better chin. He didn't cut that I can remember either, which means at best you were there for your full shift.

One of the finest chins that I've ever seen regardless of weight class.

Fenech broke BOTH his hands hitting Villasana. The guy was literal Mexican steel. I think Manny Pac at 126 is a very close fight if I'm being honest.

I went to the Olympic one night when he was on the card. I forget who he was fighting but everybody knew it was going to be fight of the night. At the bell, they ran at each other...and banged heads. There were bad cuts and lots of blood and the fight lasted about 16 seconds.

When he was at his very best it usually took a pretty special fighter to best him. He's a tough night out for any of them.
