No, It's because I've seen higher level boxing on display at a smoker in the basement of a VFW. Was it a fun fight, I guess. Was it a good fight...no, just no. Kownacki got hit 290 times by the 38 year old, one-handed corpse of Chris Arreola. Nuff said.

Agreed just watched it now, two puddings throwing arm punches for 12 rounds.

I watched Kownacki Arreola without sound, and Arreola did a lot, lot better than the scorecards suggested. Kownacki banked a lot of the earlier rounds, and did just enough to keep it competitive in the later rounds when he began to run out of steam, but Arreola deserved a better result than this. Had he not damaged his hand (pretty obvious, even before the reports came out) we might have seen a very interesting final couple of rounds.

Regarding Kownacki, this is the second time he's looked incredibly limited and lacklustre against an average opponent. His conditioning is astounding for a man who looks like a Teletubby, but he clearly can't keep up the pace past the first few rounds without drastically losing steam. He's got no plan B, and doesn't seem to have the mentality to dig deep and turn things around once his energy levels start to drop off. Against come forward guys I'd favour him against most so long as his chin and face hold up (he seems to mark up and get nosebleeds a lot), but anyone that can box him at range or pick him off inside the pocket without getting badly hurt is going to have a great chance to beat him.

I previously gave him a good chance against Wilder. No longer. He just doesn't have the discipline or mentality to make his style work at the highest levels of the sport, and eats punches far too frequently for it not to become an issue at some point.

I'm not going to get excited for a man that can't be bothered to get his conditioning in check. Kownacki's now struggled against Martin and a very past prime Arreola. Why would anyone get excited for him?

    For arm punches maybe.

Nothing thrown that night had the sustained mustard of anything thrown in the Ike and Tua war.

He has a decent chin. A lot of Arreola's shots didn't have great leverage on them or land particularly cleanly, and Arreola's never been a particularly huge puncher even in his prime. A bigger worry for me if I were a Kownacki fan would be how easily his face marks up. Maybe it's just his look, but his eyes always seem to take a lot of damage, and this is the second time now that he's had issues with his nose.

He's one of those fighters who seems to be able to take a lot of low to medium level punishment without wilting, but whom I'd suspect would go down to the first really hard, fully-leveraged shot from a big name puncher that landed on him.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Kownacki is taking drugs with that conditioning. Remember he is good mates with Miller and Miller was taking drugs that enhanced his output over the distance.

Don’t forget that Kownacki ruled himself out of contention to replace Miller to fight Joshua. At the time I recall his team saying they had a plan to fight Wilder but this week Kownacki was saying that he turned the fight down because he was out of shape. Wouldn’t surprise me if he knew he would fail the drug testing.

Oh yeah, he's clearly on some sort of endurance boosters. Any man that disrespects his body like that isn't going to think twice about injecting himself with health-threatening designer drugs to help him cut it in the ring.

It would have been hilarious if Arreola had pulled off the upset after Kownacki turned the Joshua fight down. I can only think the same thing as you, that he knew he'd be caught and couldn't afford the bad publicity. Out of shape, lol.

Uh, pretty sure he qualifies for Medicare, based on some of the names he dropped seeing in their primes; I'm not into beating up geriatrics. :nusenuse:

Ike and Tua were throwing textbook punches with good form which is more physically demanding

These two were just slapping floppy armed punches off each other . I think if Kowanaki was on something he would have been been able to throw punches with more snap and better technique. He fought like a typical fat man.

Ye & it was a war too as Froch doesn't know how to take a backward step whereas a lot of Pascal opponents have picked him off & out boxed, out manoeuvred him... They unloaded everything on each other & to be fair to Pascal he clearly has a good chin too.. no shame in getting stopped by SK.. Froch has a great chin no doubt
