Yeah, like I said I have to review the footage. I'm just saying he can, not that he would.

At the sametime, Donaire would've found Mares much easier to deal with. I think he would've won that one, though it would've been highly contested and was one of the most desired fights out there.

If Rigo were to beat Abner Mares, I'd probably have to put him at #1.

This would only server to get both his eye shut , busted rib and eventually KOed. HORRIBLE PLAN HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLAN.. Against a Fighter with power in both hands to both the head and body, How is this a good plan ?!?!?
Even if he survived taking shots for 5 to 6 round I doubt he will have enough in the tank to make a comeback ..

The type of speed/accuracy/power that Rigo has make all but a small fraction of fighters (even the warriors) lower their output and keep their hands at home more due to the speed and getting countered.

Then on top of that the control of distance he would use and the ring movement employed.

That all being said, if anyone could do it down there its Mares, and would provide a great contrast to what Donaire tried to do.

Would love to see this fight.... shame it wont happen :-(

Mares wouldn't do **** but get knocked the **** out. He got outboxed by Agbeko in the first fight. Agbeko was robbed by the ref and bogus judging. Mares isn't all that. Mares didn't really beat Darchinyan either. He then got another gift against Moreno. I honestly wish he would fight Rigondeaux, so Mares could get knocked the **** out.

This isn't a competitive fight...Mares is not in Rigo's level..Rigo's counter style is better suited for brawlers and pressure fighters..look what he did to nonito when Donaire tryed to get wild..I go Rigo for KO inside of five rounds in and incredible easy fight for "El Chakal"..

Possible. He is a bit underrated. Few in the sport have offensive skills like he does.

Lol...you say "take some counters" as if its a side note. I like Mares and believe he could probably give Rigo problems but that was a real stupid thing to say.

nope, Rigo is a bigger, way more powerful, slicker and faster fighter than Moreno. Moreno's great but no pop at all. Still even being a smaller dude getting fouled, he kept the fight very close. I would say if anything that is shows that if he problems with Moreno's slickness coupled with no power and not his size than he'll have much more trouble with Rigo's. Mares give him a better fight than Donaire though but Rigo wins8-4, 9-3 type decision

People thinking Rigo is Moreno, Rigo will just walk back to the corner set his feet and then land a hard shot and spin out, eventually Mares will break, people think because you got a good chin you can walk through everything, look what happened to Donaire's eye that could happen to Mares early, plus Rigo has hard body shots Mares would not see them coming with a high guard and his swings
Mares would definitely do better than Donaire though
