Yohnny, Agbeko, and Moreno are great fighters... none of them big punchers at all.

Ponce and Vic are the biggest/only punchers Mares had faced before Johnny.

I never suspected Mares of having a bad chin and still don't, but I don't think he has a great chin and with the way that he fights and is moving up in weight, it will lead to knockout defeats.

 

I don't think there's any fighter in the world who could take a hit like that and not be hurt. The hook landed absolutely perfectly. He started low and came up with it, causing Mares to drop his shoulder to protect the body, and when it landed Mares' chin wasn't tucked at all. When you get hit with a shot like that it causes your head to rotate around your neck like a pivot, amplifying the force of the blow from the leverage, and likely damages the brain stem and causes a concussion from your brain rattling around in your skull. Under the circumstances, he probably should have been knocked out cold.

It sucks that the referee stepped in so soon, but he probably saved Mares from serious brain damage. Multiple concussions are no joke. We all give heaps of praise for a guy like Bradley fighting through his concussions, but who knows how much damage he's accumulated.

 

This is boxing any one can get caught at any time, hence "Protect yourself at all Times"
