A defense by WBC junior featherweight beltholder Abner Mares against rising WBA bantamweight titleholder Anselmo Moreno, a WBO lightweight titlebout matching contenders Richard Abril and Sharif Bogere and an appearance by undefeated featherweight prospect Gary Russell Jr. are planned for a Showtime-televised boxing weekend on Oct. 13-14 from The Mandalay Bay Hotel.

Isn't Top Rank doing the Donaire fight on HBO on October 13th?

Very bad move by Mares management to select Moreno IMO. Either he wins and looks like **** or Moreno gets the decision win and raises his profile.

Yes Moreno vs Mares!!.. that's why GBP is ten steps ahead of TR.. when it comes to pleasing fans and going mainstream... TR builds fighters better I guess.. but they really do hurt boxing and themselves more times than not...

Good card... I'm thinking if Abril wins.. they'll match him against Broner... it looks

Moreno will beat Mares, but lose, either to corrupt judging, or a bad ref, or both like Mares vs Agbeko I.

Mares Moreno is one of the best match-ups out there possible. The only sad thing is that Moreno is still a bit unknown. I see another close fight that can go either way. Moreno seems extremely good so he might just outpoint Mares.

If he beats Moreno and looks like **** it might still be enough to enter the p4p top 10

I think Moreno schools Mares in the art of boxing, but I applaud him for taking the fight. If he somehow does win a fight with nonito would be great.
