This guy is still improving, based on PDL fight! He can adjust to many styles! Id love to watch him against Rigondeaux, see what adjustments he can do

Id love to see him pound it in with his creative pressure, hes far more rugged than donaire and i think he can get into rigos face and possibly hurt him, and well hes got a good chin too

He would get his ass whooped by Rigondeaux big time.

Very underrated skill-set. The guy is well-rounded, throws very smart offensive counters, and has great fundamentals on the inside. His body punching is also fierce.

I think he'd crowd Rigondeaux and possibly beat him. He fought PDL more cautiously, but his performance against Moreno shows you how relentless he is against mobile fighters. I've seen him have the most trouble when suddenly getting backed up by those fighters, but not when they're counter-punching him. Rigo is more skilled than anyone he's fought, but Mares would also be the best pressure fighter Rigo has fought.

Yeah, but Rigo has considerably more pop in his punches than Moreno.

we cant just assume it. Mares defense is underrated. he knows how to box. Hes better than Donaire in that category

Did everyone forget how he outboxed and counterpunched Agbeko in the rematch? I knew this kid was the real deal when i first saw him fight just like when i first saw Danny Garcia.

He was gassing and got a gift stoppage.

Is he improving? Yes. He looked really good early on. I hope he learns to pace himself, but there is no doubt the kid has a bright future.

    Rigo would serve him.

Everyone loves to forget about the schooling Mares gave Agbeko in the rematch and only bring up the first fight.

That remains Mares' best performance to date IMO, although this past Saturday's performance against PDL was impressive as ****.

    Mares is the truth.

    :patsch

Rigondeaux should fight Mikey at 126 lbs - no catchweight - Mares would.

He was getting caught by PDL all fight with the same punch... And its not like PDL is that hard to figure out

    Rigo would murder him
