I just cannot decide who is going to win this fight. My mind changes from day to day. Either way we are in for a heck of a fight.

Agbeko showed he can box effectively in the Perez fight as well as brawl when he needs to.

Mares, to me, was unimpressive against Darchinyan. He looked sloppy at time but the kid has so much potential that it makes this fight ridiculously close to call.

    What do people think?

I'm going for Mares... It's pretty close indeed, but I think Mares takes it

This is not a coin toss at all. Agbeko is arguably the most underrated fighter in the sport and he's all wrong for Mares. Agbeko is very akward and ellusive in the ring. He has good hanspeed is relentless and tough as hell. I look for him to grind Mares down and stop him late. The smart money will be on Agbeko in this fight, Mares doesn't even have a puncher's chance in this fight.:deal

Mares won't be able to deter nor will he be able to outbox Agbeko who is the more complete fighter here. People who think Mares wins this fight are clearly out of the loop here and don't really understand this match up. Agbeko is on a different level.:deal

Based on their last performance I would have to go with Agbeko. Mares didnt look all that great with Darchinyan but he did have a nasty cut over his eye from round 1.
    That could have been it.

However if the winner is to face Donaire then Agbeko would have a better chance. Mares has gone too offensive since he left Beristain and an offensive fighter is perfect for Donaire.

I do think its a coin toss because Mares has shown he can hang in there with the same level fighters Agbeko has been in with. I thought he beat Perez in his draw and also he beat Darchynian so they are on the same level. Its just a matter of who comes better prepared.

Money wise i would have to bet on Agbeko though.

I'll be surprised if Agbeko doesn't win by UD. He's more skilled and more experienced. He'd have to fight a dumb fight to lose.

Mares will grind out another victory in a war. Like his last two fights.

Except going to war with Agbeko isn't a smart idea and he will get brutally stopped doing so.:deal

Agbeko schooled Vic D it was easy work for him. If Mares thinks he can go to war with a tough mother****er like Agbeko then be my guest. He won't make it past the 8th round by doing so.

I agree with this, but I thought Darchinyan would school Mares too. And for the most part he did in the sense that he landed HUGE punches on Mares, but the problem is that Mares somehow took those punches and eventually his youth and endurance caught up with Darchinyan and he won a close decision.

Now Agbeko is a better mover than Darchinyan and I knew he would beat robotic Perez, but Mares may use his size and toughness in the same way he did with Darchinyan against an older Agbeko.

Mares is at least a little less predictable than Perez and unlike Perez, appears to be improving every fight, and Agbeko is getting older and may not be able to keep up the movement and the pace that Mares will force him to do.

And he may have another off night like he did in the first Perez fight.

Styles make fights and IMO King Kong can neutralize Mares' offense. I wouldn't rule out a big statement by Agbeko but I expect a 8-4/7-5ish close decision and King Kong likely getting robbed, the punchstats showing he clearly landed at a higher % and the more telling blows where Mares was busier but highly ineffective. I can also see a lot of blood coming off an early headbutt which is always a possiblity in an Agbeko fight.

I'm not sure why the overwhelming picks for Mares BTW. Didn't you guys watch his last two fights? Could very well be 0-2. Agbeko could also be 3-0 and handled Perez in the rematch pretty well.
