I think a disciplined and focused Agbeko should take Mares to school. But it appears that Showtime has already coronated Mares, judging by how often he's mentioned by them and how Agbeko isn't mentioned at all. I like Mares, but personally, I had Darchinyan over him by a point. Any opinions on the outcome of the Mares v Agbeko fight?
Agbeko should win, I'm not going ot go through why he would win, although I can easily, I'm too hungover to bother. What I will say is that unless Agbeko really clearly beats Mares, I think the decision could go to Showtimes new darling. Agbeko certainly could beat Mares, and I think he will, but if he leaves it too close, he's going to be on the losing end of another controversial decision. Although nothing Mares has done suggests to me he could beat Agbeko, he certainly has the raw skills to make it a tough fight.
I think this actually has the making of a very good, close fight with a lot of action. I'm actually going to say Mares wins by UD. But a fair UD. No network cooking.
I think Agbeko gets the decision, but it will be close. Agbeko has a lot of depth to his game but, as insinuated, he sometimes loses focus. That combined with the fact that Mares is pretty talented in his his own right opens a door for Mares. Should be another great fight and I am excited to see it!
Mares deserved his win against Darchyinan imo. It was close no doubt but the right man won and I think Mares will beat Agbeko also, fairly. He has too much hunger. He's also said he wants the winner of Donaire/Montiel should he win. Mares is such a refreshing boxer in a sport full of bull****.
I think every fighter in the bantamweight tournament is refreshing in a sport thats sometimes full of bull****.
