The only contraversy in the fight was the ref calling two knockdowns when one was a low blow and the other a slip. As far as the low blows, subtract half of them for akbeko pulling mares head down. Anyway without the two knockdowns mares clearly won the fight. He won atleast 8 rounds on even akbekos dads card. Akbeko landed the harder punches but mares had to have outlanded him by well over 100 shots. Anyone booing the decision needed glasses or just didnt understand boxing. With that being said, donaire KOs mares.
With all due respect, dude, you're talking a load of **** there. Mares' lowblows were so frequent, they were quite simply a casual (and intergral) part of his game that night. He was using them as if they were legal. He should have at least had a couple of points deducted (awarding Agbeko a couple of 10-8 rounds) and his 2 KDs shouldn't have even been given. This means on my scorecard, as well as everyone elses, Agbeko won the fight. Disgraceful. And yes I agree, Donaire would beat the **** out of Mares.
you act like the low blows had no bearing on the outcome which you couldnt possibly know for sure. I challenge anyone hear to take the low blows agbeko took in that fight and say it had no effect on their conditioning or fight plan. If the referee had stamped it out immediately it would have meant mares would have had to change his fight plan too and he may not have been anywhere near as effective. In a nutshell it had a huge impact on the fight
It sucks for any fighter to have to worry about when is he going to get hit in the nuts all night to begin with. You can't even focus when someone is eyeballing your nuts. Then you have focus on the fight where the ref is clearly bullying u and is obviously bias. Third you have to focus on how to catch up where you are robbed of one kd from round 1. That is tons of bull**** to deal with. As for Mares' excuse of him getting his head pulled down happened 50% of the time while the other 50% he was ripping abeko's nuts without his head pulled down. And abeko's hands were no where near mares on the kd.
i am a mares fans and i thought he got robbed against perez but he is clearly at wrong on the fight nut hunting abeko like that. he did it to vic too.
BOTH should of been deducted a point for low blows and rabbit punching. Whoever continued got disqualified. If Agbeko wasnt rabbit punching Id side with him, but him fighting dirty as well and getting outboxed by Mares for most of the fight I have to give the edge to Mares. I dont even count the knockdowns Mares did enough to win. Rabbit punching is worse than ball punching. Rematch with a competent referee is the only thing to do. At least now in a rematch both will get a bigger payday and have a rivalry now.
Lol so many Mexicans in here see no wrong with what Mares did, I like how Mares adjusted his body perfectly, with the dip down and hard left to the sack, sweet science.
this is causing controversy also I didn't know this ref was the same till I read it another site. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcLDP7xMVFY&playnext=1&list=PL4BE290C73C3A14BC[/ame]
What about this??? Mares knows all to well what that **** does to his opponent... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_FT_kc0wyY&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
