Montiel is a little shopworn, i know he got the come from behind win against Hasegawa, but he is on borrowed time. I think Mares would wear him down, and knock him out.
I'd fancy mares to win via ko/tko over montiel if this fight ever happens.. Mares's got serious skills, fresher legs, momentum and definitely, he's hungry for a title..
Im not sold on Mares outside boxing skills as of yet but in terms of size and talent at this stage in their careers Mares has the edge. Montiel is being overrated as a bantamweight here at ESB but if Mares continues to throw those looping right hooks at Montiel like he did with Perez all night tonight then Mares would get KO'd before he sees the 8th.
