Mares vs. Ponce De Leon

    Probably the most intriguing bout taking place tomorrow night is the supporting bout between Abner Mares and Daniel Ponce De Leon. This is a damn good fight, one that would deserve to headline a normal Saturday night.

    Mares is younger and undefeated, but stepping up in weight. PDL is on a three fight win streak, including a really impressive showing against Jhonny Gonzalez, since his loss to Gamboa and questionable loss to Broner.

    How do you see this one playing out?

    I think PDL will give Mares some looks he hasn't seen before and be able to box just enough to pile enough rounds to warrant a decision, provided judges remember to score "effective" and not just "aggression."

    This is the fight I'm most excited for. I see a Mares decision. Mares is too quick and too good on offense.

    Yep, this fight is the real main event for me. I'm gonna hate to see Ponce lose, but I say Mares takes this fight.

    I'm rooting for PDL, but I expect Mares to win on points. I would be thrilled if PDL beat him, though.

    This has FOTN written all over it...I'm really looking forward to this fight.:good

    I'm liking Mares by UD...De Leon will have his moments but the sheer determination that Abner fights with will be the key to his victory.

    Not only does Ponce look huge. He doesn't look out of shape at all...and Mares style is that of a come forward fighter...and he has less power than Ponce. Tough tough going, but Mares is a real P4P talent if he can outbox or outfight PDL.

    damn PDL looks huge next to AM....
    ponce hasn't been in a fight of the year type of fight for a while now, but with the pressure mares brings, i can see it bringing out the best of ponce......i think mares will pull through with a decision though...maybe even hurt mares in the process

    ponce has fallen in love with the little boxing he has learned...it's actually great to see someone apply so much into something you know is pretty knew to them....even though it looks funny i respect the man though, and have been his fan since day 1...would hate for any of these guys to lose....BOXING GODS, MAKE IT A DRAW, PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
