No but you are talking about china (let's say a 1) in Amir Khan on one end of the spectrum and Granite (let's say a 10) on the other end of the spectrum in Jake LaMotta. Mares is probably like a 5, somewhere in the middle. He has faced some big punchers without getting KO'd (like Darch & PDL). His chin can't be that bad. Also, Gonzalez has a very high KO % and that is not a fluke, he can crack. It's like saying Duran was packing glass when he got KO'd by Tommy Hearns.
I'd agree with a 5, or maybe even a little higher - in the average range somewhere. He wasn't stopped by Darchinyan or Ponce De Leon, but they did knock him down and stiffen his legs respectively. Not glass, but not iron. Wooden chin? :think There isn't yet really an established slang term for "average".
Not you! Yeah! Him doing his best Golota impersonation on poor King Kong is a memory that still lingers. :rofl There's something wrong with you, hippie. :smoke
This is reasonable. I'd rank him slightly lower, say a 4 - but the bottom line is his chin isn't exactly sturdy. And now, it's more likely that opponents will come gunning for his suspect whiskers. As the saying goes, "once they crack, they don't come back." :yep
IKEA-manufactured chin? :think You know...sturdy enough, for the price - but don't go jumping up and down on it or anything...
You don't watch the lower weights fighters because you're a fraud, and this thread exposes you as a true fraud. Not you personally, but your boxing opinion. Nothing personal, but just keep guessing. #Frontrunner
Mares does not have a china chin! Hell, he got caught with a left hook that would knock a bull out! Mares has proven himself. Anyone can get knocked out, ask Lennox Lewis, Joe Louis, Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes, Ali, Spinks, ad infinitum! I am tired of this glass jaw crap. If you get caught with a hard punch that you don't see you can get knocked out, and that includes anyone!
