i think he is. many have said that monzon never looked like a great fighter but he always got wins depite his many flaws

margarito has all of monzons traits: great body puncher, massive and tall for his weight, great chin, relentlessness

    I wonder if there's a chance of a Margatio-Williams rematch?

Not a bad comparison at all. I do think Monzon punched straighter though, but Margo has a better left hook.

The uppercut is Margarito's best punch IMO, with either hand.

What does that make Paul Williams?

there are some similarities. both look ordinary on tape, but are evidently effective against opponents. most of the same intangibles, iron chin, big guys for their weight classes, constant pressure. monzon did'nt commit to the body like margarito. more of a head hunter with his great timing.

Monzon wasn't a "constant pressure" kind of fighter, was he? In the fights i've seen from him, which admittedly were only 5 or 6, i saw him move and box and back up a whole lot, although he would punch a lot.
But IMO he was more of an outside fighter who would pick guys apart with his long, hard punches and had that great great killer instinct when he hurt you.

They are not alike, and Monzon is way way better.

you're right. though in a few fights, he backed up smaller guys like benvenutti 2x and napoles.

They are worlds apart in terms of technical skill.

Margarito is a slow plodder with great stamina and a very good chin.
