Hey I couldnt really listen to the comentating on the fight...everyone was hella drunk during the fight u know how we mex do. So was it really that bad? I heard they were trashing on Margarito?
Yes it was really bad. You would get an exchange in which Margarito would land some heavy shots and Cotto might land one back in return and Lampley would say how Margarito hadn't sone anything. Even as Cotto was getting battered they kept saying that Margarito wasn't landing anything effective. I don't remember lampley saying one single positive thing about Margarito and when Steward did say something about how Margarito was landing well Lampley was quick to correct him and point out that Cotto was outboxing him and landing "every telling blow of the fight"
To be fair Margarito was losing the rounds in the early part of the fight, I don't think that was being anti Margarito. I forget who it was, I think Kellerman, who accurately called the turning of the momentum about the 8th or 9th round, and he was dead on.
HBO commentators are proven biase as **** over and over but for the Margo match it was sickening. Margo had Cotto bleeding from three places and is not landing anything effective.... yea right. HBO commentators are ***s. The richer the network the more gay they get.
Even when he was losing rounds it was clear that he had a plan and that he was getting to Cotto. When he did start winning rounds Max and Manny started calling it a little better but Lampley still insisted that Cotto was dominating.
HBO just lost a goldmine in future Cotto fights. If Pavlik loses, the HBO boxing division would collapse.
Manny Stewart did a great job of pointing out that Margo was doing a lot better than the other guys were giving him credit for.
They all did a good job ... they all were questioning rather Cotto could keep up with this pace and how long would he be able to hold up.
Stewart usually has a fair assessment of things. He was very even in his call of the Calzaghe - Hopkins fight, I thought. Kellerman usually sounds like he's got his mind made up before the fight even begins.
Lamply's emotional breakdown had **** to do with Cotto's defeat. (Zero) It was over an HBO member of the team who was fighting a relapse of lukemia in the hospital.
Thats why I DESPISE "Fight Parties" I need to hear ALL the commentary and watch every single prelim bout. And I have no tolerance for "casual fans" on Fightnight. I land up telling them off and insulting their intelligence.
lampley was unbearable to the point that i was screaming at the tv for him to stfu. next time they have a golden boy fighting i'll turn down the sound
