Quit making excuses. Cintron got beat by a better, tougher fighter. BTW, did you not see the "Tale of the Tape?" Cintron had like a 1 and 1/2" reach advantage.
One of the very best, yes. Others I'd have up there are Glen Johnson, James Toney and Oliver McCall. Put those guys with Margo and you have some of the very best chins this sport has ever seen. Guys you definately would not want to fight unless you brought your track shoes.
that guy's chin is really made of steel. he was walking through cintrons best punches as if its nothing.
Void Mayweather turned down big money to fight Margarito and for good reason. Void does not want any part of Cotto either. Margarito's chin and experience will be extremely dangerous for Cotto.
Johnson showed a 20X better (and more proven) chin than Margarito did tonight. As IntentionallButt described, most of the punches Cintron landed weren't from the best distance/position for his power to be very effective. The Feliciano fight is another great example of Cintron's power not being extremely effective because of the way he chose to fight. Cintron has a lot of problems and it doesn't seem like he's going to improve. People who think Margarito will walk through Cotto's accurate shots for longer than 2-3 rounds are underrating Cotto in a big way, or overrating Margarito like usual.
I agree Dawson was landing some quality leather upstairs and down stairs. He was actually sitting down on his punches. I see a Cotto UD in a fight against Margo maybe even a late KD or possibly stoppage but I think Margo makes it 12.
Well clearly I didn't catch that...it certainly didn't appear that way. Which just goes to reinforce how uncomfortable Cintron was with the distance, as he was unable to ever unfold that wingspan very well. Who am I making excuses for? Cintron? Why would I want to stick up for that disappointment? He's garbage...total waste of a good punch. And I'm actually giving Margarito credit, when you think about it. He executed a textbook pressure attack (even if it is pretty much just his usual schtick), keeping Cintron frustrated, ineffective, and vulnerable with his control of distance. He followed the "beat Kermit Cintron" blueprint that he helped write impeccably. I'm just not willing to say that he has this astoundingly great chin citing "he took shots from Kermit Cintron" as proof when he didn't exactly take the creme da le creme of shots from Kermit Cintron (due to the good, consistent work he was doing).
maybe true, but his chin can't ever be questioned and is in a league of it's own. starting at middleweight and taking punches from the biggest heavyweights out there.
Top class chin but i think Oliver McCall might have something to say about this whole thread. I still shake my head when i see him copping constant shots from Lewis in the mental breakdown that was Lewis vs McCall 2.. He was too busy wandering around the ring weeping from his breakdown to even realise he was copping bombs from Lewis.. Man McCall is one tough hombre.
He loves having his fights in casinos so he can win two belts in one night. The boxing title and the buffet title!
