I would like to see Antonio Margarito start to get his big money PPV fights, but I think he should take note.
Ricky Hatton brought a 43-0 record and called out Floyd after beating Castillo in 4 rounds.
Margarito brings his 35-5 record after knocking out Golden Johnson, coming off of a loss to Paul Williams.
I think his words were something like "I'm not asking anymore, I'm demanding the big fights"
He's demanding in words, but not actions in the ring.
    Ricky Hatton demanded it forreal.
That's how you get your big pay day.

Margarito was supposed to get Zab after he beat Kermit. . . Zab balked.
AM has always wanted a DLH fight. . . but who doesnt.
AM offered Fraud 8 mil and free agency b4 losing a close competative decision to PW. . . Fraud left money on the table to duck AM. How is that in any way AM's fault.

Its clear that AM is willing to fight ANY top WW.

It's his fault because no one has to fight him. They don't even have to duck him they can just leave him down there on the C level where he is.
If he would stop getting beat by these c level fighters. HE would be a force.
He would be the big fight. He wouldn't have to chase a big fight

No, Williams is a good fighter, but you dont' lose to Williams then K.O Golden Johnson and see that as emanding big fight.
I think if he beats Williams even by SD, then looks impressive as he did with Johnson. he would get a PPV fight with someone and make alot of money.
But right now people would rather pay to see 100's of other fighter.
YOu would rather see someone who looks like they're gonna be the next big thing in Boxng.
Margarito is already whatever he's gonna be.
I would like to see him get his money though. HE deserves it for sure

Williams was Margarito's mandatory for about 6 months. Margarito showed no interest at all in fighting Williams. Arum sets up both Cotto and Margarito to fight in a double main event last December. Margarito struggles with Clottey yet Cotto blasts away Quintana. Then all of a sudden, Margarito decides to take on his mandatory canceling his June showdown with Cotto. Pretty convenient on his part wasnt it? :hey

Am I the only one who thinks a Margarito fight is the next logical step for Cotto? Before a unification with Williams or Floyd?

Ive been saying this all year long. I would have prefered for Cotto to have fought Margarito back in June than now without a belt. I dont care much for Williams. Now Cotto/Margarito is a waste of time for Cotto.

That's my point. I don't think Margarito is logical for anyone.
With his height, chin and style. It wouldn't make sense for anyone to give him an opportunity just for the sake of giving him an opportunity.
If he goes ou there and makes a name for himself with the general PPV buying public the risk vs reward factor would favor fighting him.
But as it stands Cotto/De La Hoya would make more money.
To quote LEonard Ellerbe "If it doesn't make business sense it don't make sense at all.

It seems most of the fans today forgot boxing is a sport. Fanboys talk TOO MUCH about money...

Well maybe its just cause I see Cotto as still developing. Other than the winner of Floyd/Hatton, or Williams, Margarito is the best fight out there for him imho. (Dela Hoya is the most money, but that means nothing). And since Floyd/Hatton or Williams vs Cotto won't be happening in his NEXT fight, I personally think a Margarito fight is the next logical step. And with their styles, would be a good fight too.

I've been really impressed with Cotto's opponents at welterweight so far. Nice, gradual improvement (barring the Urkal fight, which was still good for him nonetheless).

Of course it's a sport, but money changes everything. without the money it's a backyard sport.
Take the money out of the Super Bowl, and the players go home.
They even get paid to play in the pro bowl.
It's a sport on the amatuer level, but it's a business, and a livelyhood on the pro level.

yeah you're probably the only one that thinks that.. Fighting Margarito is like taking a step back after beating Shane Mosley.. He needs to fight either Williams since he's undefeated or Mayweather.
