Mayweather certainly is light years ahead in terms of skills and legacy, but if we are just talking about the list of opponent, setting aside the result of the fight, Margarito's list is far more impressive.

Margarito's top 5 opponents (order of last fought):
    1. Manny Pacquiao
    2. Shane Mosley
    3. Miguel Cotto
    4. Paul Williams
    5. Sergio Martinez
    Others: Clottey/Cintron

Mayweather's top 5 opponents (order of last fought):
    1. Shane Mosley
    2. Juan Manuel Marquez
    3. Ricky Hatton
    4. ODLH
    5. Diego Corrales
    Others: castillo/Judah/gatti

Mayweather seriously needs to start fighting guys like pacquiao or martinez, which I think both he could convincingly beat. IMHO, he will be able to crack the all-time top 10-15 list with two convincing wins, especially against pac. But if he retires now, then there's a great possibly in the distant future that even a fighter like Calzaghe's would outshine mayweather. One hundred years from now, there's won't be enough historians that will be critical of Calzaghe beating old Jones and old Hopkins, but plenty that will be bewildered by his record of 46-0, five more than mayweather's 41-0.

Casing Point: It will hurt mayweather's legacy if he doesn't have pacquiao's name in his resume.

and when have you ever heard Floyd say that he cares about his legacy?

and since we are on the subject of legacy. . . and we are trying to compare dukweather to margocheato

floyd will be remembered as a GREAT fighter who was too much of a ***** to test himself against prime opposition

Margo will be remembered as a C level fighter who put bricks in his gloves

Mayweather won all his fights, While Margacheato got his ass kicked numerous times.

Floyd's resume is really thin if you compare it to other great fighters. It's that "0" that floyd clings on to make him seem greater than he really is.

Pacquiao was a good opponent, they both fought Mosley... P-Will is an exciting fighter but he woefully flawed. I mean he got beat by Quintana. Cotto is questionable too. And he fought a completely different version of Sergio Martinez then the one right now. That Martinez wasn't all that tough of an opponent.
