Margarito fought better quality opposition than Mayweather.

Read my post again carefully. What I was illustrating, is that certain opponents where built up to be huge challenges by the public. Some opponents Floyd was said to be afraid of because they would beat him. The after Floyd wins, suddenly there were never a threat in the first place and Floyd hasn't fought anybody.

 

Nope, the DLH a 154 that Mayweather fought who KOed Mayorga would beat the brakes off Paul Williams. Williams gets hit way too much and that left hook to his chin wold've got him out of there.

And margarito fought a p4p #2 who was 17lbs lighter and 5in shorter. If Mayweather at 5'8 fought a guy 17lbs lighter and 5'3 tall he would be ridiculed.

You can't tell me honestly boxing fan to boxing fan that you don't wish you saw Floyd vs. Kosta or Floyd vs Cotto or Floyd vs. Vernon and come in a lesser favorite and truly etch his place in history ? But Hell yeah I would like to have seen those fights. I just don't think its all Floyd's fault that they didn't happen. Floyd was signed to Top Rank for 35 of 41 fights. But I do agree that his leagcy could have been much more with some additional names on his resume.

Yea 4 sho. I think he could have risen to another level just he got so caught up in self promotion and the lifestyle. Just would suck if he has to fight Manny not in his prime when he could have taken out 2 more names when he was younger and he would not have to come back for **** and would have retired the best ever.
I don't believe we saw the best of Floyd he could have risen to another level if he was a lil bit more humble. But he is who he is and without question nobody will be born with the skills he got. Just will always wonder how good was he really.

And my analogy is based on real life dumbass. People were bashing him for fighter Marquez. But Mayweather's size advantage over Marquez wasn't as dramatic as Marg's was over Pac.

 

Why don't you guys ever consider the fact that it's a combination of size and skill? Just like with Martinez, he's too big for Pac because of his skillset too. I guess my point is Mayweather is too skilled to be bringing up small guys to a bigger division. He needs to fight guys that are his own size, so to speak.

Mayweather has been the smaller man plenty of times. Its not wrong of him at all to be the bigger man for once especially in what was essentially a tune up comeback fight.

The thread starter is stating that Margarito faced better opposition during the last few years , he did not say he won them.

It is just the class of opposition faced and losing or winning is not in equation here.

Margarito could be considered to have faced a murderer's row with his fight prior to Pac as the only exception.
