Why would anyone in there right mind, fighter , trainer , manager or otherwise let a fighter get in the ring after having eyes surgery.
If this is true he is lucky he was not killed.

 

not really. people get misquoted all the time. Journalists wanna create controversy by making it sound like a fighter is pulling excuses all the time.

It happens often. Maybe he was saying that Margarito had surgery but that it in no way affected the outcome of the fight, and the reporter chose to cut off the rest of the statement. If he wants to make an excuse then he would say "if it wasnt for the surgery the outcome would have been different." thats an excuse.

The guy clearly said "I don't wanna take any credit away from Shane."

I don't call that an excuse.

 

No way the Commission doctors would let a fighter fight if he was just coming off laser surgery for a potential detached retina......if the doctors were furnished that info.

But this is boxing and the fighters are just "meat" in the overall recipe.

For every positive thing about boxing ....the dark side of the sport has surfaced all in this great fight.

 

Also why no mention of the eye surgery BEFORE the fight? And like i said he would have had a eye patch and still be recuperating from eye surgery. it takes weeks to heal and even more before you fight.
