"Margarito had his chance, he could have fought me tonight, he could have fought me in June.

"He preferred to fight Paul Williams, now he'll have to wait his turn."

Cotto is correct. Ive been saying this the past summer. Margarito keeps crying but he had his shot and turned Cotto down. Now that he has nowhere to go, now he wants the fight.

Cotto should avoid Margo at all costs. Margo is young, stronger than Cotto and even more of a beast than Cotto.

This is one instance where Cotto should follow in PBF's footsteps -- avoid Antonio like your life depends on it.

Margo only looks good against bums ! I'm sorry there was Cintron who was a young pup at the time !

I thought Cotto just fought who his promoter put in front of him?:huh

Although I'm not a Margarito fan, you have to respect him for taking on Paul Williams. Williams is a tougher matchup for him than Cotto, and it is not as high profile as the Cotto fight would be. However, he honored his responsiblities as a champion and fought Williams. I would clearly understand if Cotto decided to fight Mayweather, DLH, or the Williams/Cintron winner instead of Margo, but Margo certainly deserves a shot.

Margo HAD to fight Williams, or everybody would have said he was ducking him. Williams was 'the guy' for Margo, and Margo being the champ he is, he took the fight. And lost.

I think Margo knows that Mosley was smart to avoid Margo. Cotto doesn't want what Golden Johnson got last night. Margo isn't aging, like Shane. I think Cotto fights PBF before he fights Margo.

I agree. After his loss he has to get back to the end of the line. Cotto has bigger fish to fry than Margo.

Thats common in boxing. You lose. You need to build yourself back up to fight the champion. Just because he beat Golden Johnson (a fighter that Mosley KOed 10 years ago) doesnt mean you are in the mix right away.

Exactly! Golden Johnson was a nobody brought in to make Margo look good. Where was that fire when he faced Williams a guy who could fight back and outwork him?

As I recall the fight was promoted as a unification bout before the sanctioning body got in the way. In any case these paper champions should get their mandatory out of the way as soon as possible. The problem is just that, they are paper champions who are at risk of losing at any time.

Cotto/Margarito was set for the summer last December when they were both featured on the same card. But after Cotto destroyed Quintana, Margarito conveniently decided to fight his mandatory instead. Margarito lost his chance. Now he needs to rack up a few wins before he gets a shot at Mayweather or Cotto. :yep

If Cotto wants to wait to fight Margo, I have no issue with that. They're both young enough. Margo has time. This isn't PBF waiting until a guy is old.

Margo will have plenty of exposure. He takes fights and crushes guys. People love that kind of fighter.

Wait a minute, DLH just lost yet he's a frontrunner to fight Cotto next. He just came off a loss, how come he doesn't have to wait in line? How come Barrera didn't have to wait in line to fight Pac after his loss? How come Zab didn't have to wait in line to fight Mayweather?

Boxing is a business people. Right now Cotto has better business opportunities than Margarito, that's why this fight might not happen. Maragrito is certainly a worthy opponent. However, he doesn't bring in as much money as Mayweather or DLH.

I wish Cotto were to not fight DLH next. That fight does nothing for his career. It only fattens his wallet.

Margarito has to fight winner of Cintron vs Williams then he can make a case to fight Cotto. If Cotto fought Margarito next it would be like taking a step back after beating Sugar Shane Mosley. I don't know why people are scared of Margarito fighting Cotto.. I think Cotto knocks him out EASY.. Margarito throws alot of wild shots. If he misses with one of those uppercuts he's wide open for a left hook.
