Margarito - I hope he gets banned for Life

What I don't get about the plaster of paris thing is that this controversy brewed up 90 years ago with the Dempsey - Willard fight. Were Dempseys gloves loaded with plaster..

But to contest this we also have an admission from Luis Resto that his trainer Panama Lewis added a piece of plaster of paris to his gloves after he removed the padding for his fight with Billy Collins. Surely with the padding removed, the damage to your hands would be even worse?

So was there plaster powder coating the inside wraps of margarito or was it a pre-made pad that got inserted inside the wraps?

 

I'm not certain, but I thought they loaded resto's gloves actually with a foreign material, not the raps itself...I could be wrong...but the gloves resto used were shown to be tampered with and cut out....not so much his hand wraps....

Yep, that's what I was saying, Resto claims that the padding was removed and a piece of "you know the stuff they put on your arm when you break your arm" was placed inside the glove, so it may have been the case that the wraps were protecting his hand from the piece of plaster.

I just saw the Margo pic on page 1 though, this is the first time I've seen it and if the pic is legit, it looks like something inserted into the wrap but that didn't sound like what they found at the SSM fight. They claimed that they scratched at the wraps and a powder substance flaked off them.

 

Of course he did. Look at Miguel's face after that fight. Look at the Lujan's ear after the fight.

Why would he use them against Mosley - 38, past-prime and coming off the back of an unimpressive peformance against Mayorga with Margarito a heavy pre-fight favourite - and not Cotto? (Elite, primed, with Margarito the underdog)

 

Oh yeah, because that blurry picture of his hand wrap shows us exactly what it is. :-(

This is what I've been saying all along, all you need to do is look at the state of Cotto's face after the fight and I think it gives a clear indication that Marg's gloves were loaded.

Antonio Margarito is a cheating ****ing scumbag who should never be allowed to step inside a ring again and anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot.

yep, Cotto was busted up really bad. I think that fight took something out of Cotto that he hasn't gotten back and its unfortuante.

Tape is not supposed to be over the knuckles at all... explain what its doing there cus that sure is not gauze maybe whats under the tape is Gauze mixed with Cement thats still up for debate what I know is clearly illegal is having tape over the knuckles:hi:

 

Hard for me to say how many times Margo did this. Hard to believe somebody could get away with this at so many top fights in that amount of time. If anybody should go to jail it should be the commission for not doing their job and letting these circus shows occur. I dont think he used the wraps prior to Williams. He came back from that loss with a 1st round KO of Golden Johnson. When does Margo ever blast a guy in the first. Then he beat Cintron in the same around as the 1st fight. I dont think he used wraps there even though Cintron says he did. As for Cotto I honestly dont know. The fight did go 11 rounds. People say oh Cotto's face. Lots of fighters who are great take big beatings why not Cotto. His faced looked bad against Clottey. Hard for me to believe the man could get away with it more then once. Also it has never been proven. Thats what I hate a guy gets caught cheating once without actually going thru with it and now they tarnish his whole career. People are so quik to say oh Cotto and Cintron didn really lose to him. I dont think Margo wrapped for Cotto because there is not sufficient evidence to say he did. If he did then shame on him and on the commission for neglecting the saftey of athletes who could be killed.

 

I agree with you, the pictures really shows nothing. Some of the posters on this site form an opinion on a topic and just can't let it go. They want something to be true so badly, that therefore is must be true.
