Have you tested this out yourself? I'd like to see the scientific evidence behind this and not just a bunch of fluff . I don't see how a little bit of plaster on your hands is going to substantially increase the power of your punches. Your wearing a soft 8-10oz glove over them anyway. And last I checked, knuckles are just as hard as plaster. I guess if the plaster adds weight to your fists that could have an effect, but I'd like to see someone with actual knowledge or experience on the subject explain this.
After last nights fight, I seriously doubt Margarito used hand wraps on the first fight, and if he did they didn't make much of a difference. Cotto was still getting hurt and on that last round Cotto seemed to be going down hill, too bad the fight was stopped, one thing Cotto did do this time is clinch a lot, that seriously helped him and better movement, combined with the fact that Margarito is not the same fighter since that 1st Cotto fight. Margarito is all heart. Would be great to have more fighters like him, fighters who fight anybody, and less like floyd fighters who fight the leat risky opponents.
His chin is something to behold, his heart is incredible as well. He is a warrior but no way will he ever have my respect, sorry.
True, people here act as if plaster would make Malignaggi punch like Julian Jackson :rofl, One thing's for sure Prime for Prime Margarito beat Cotto in a great war.
Get a friend, a pair of Boxing gloves and a gumshield. Have your friend punch you with a wrapped hand inside a 10oz glove (I assume you to be an armchair fan who doesn't have a clue how to actually wrap a hand.) Give yourself 5 minutes to stop stinging. (Assuming you get a decent friend and not a little girl.) Have the friend re-wrap his hand and this time put a thin peice of brick above the gauze but below the final padding, allow him to punch you again. Then you tell me you moron. :huh
Being a former fan of his, he still has my full respect for the fighter he is. There aren't too many in the sport that possess his positive qualities - toughness, bravery and attitude. However, the mystery surrounding his wraps prevents me from admiring fully his character outside of the ring. He seems like a loyal/nice guy to his family and friends, but it's hard for me to judge him since I don't know the truth about his controversial hand-loading incident.
It is amazing how posters crucify margarito for the plaster yet are also accepting about xylocaine. Both things do something to the hand- punch harder. One is a physical matter while the other deadens pain. Even if it is legal (which I find amazing), the mere fact that it is being injected, it must have a benefit. And don't use aspirin or water as analogy because it sucks.
Yes, he is a warrior....He takes a good ass kicking very well ! LoL....i'm joking....he's a tough dude.
Margo can take a beating but cheaters don`t deserve praise. The fact that he never owned up to what he did, disqualifies him from any kind of redemption or second chance. The guy is scum, through and through and should never have been given a license to box as far as I`m concerned. At least Cotto has his revenge and we can rest easy now, knowing who the better fighter always was.
:deal He leaves all other things out and just fights his hearts out. I'm glad they stopped the fight for his sake.
