I hear what you're saying. There were probably a lot of people who hated Margo before it happened. Whether it was for beating on Cotto or whatever. I can't speak for them, but I can tell you I wasn't one of them. I had no problem with the man. I've based my opinion on nothing but facts, without the constrictions of emotional attachment one way or the other. My disdain towards him is based only on what happened with the Mosley fight. Cotto, Cintron, Clottey, Johnson.......Who knows? I certainly don't know any more than you do.

To me, the argument has evolved from..... it was nothing........... to..... it was something, but not harmful and Margo didn't know........ to ......it was something harmful but Margo didn't know.

If you or anyone else wants to believe he didn't know, I can respect that. Is it possible, sure. Is it probable? No. Do I believe he knew? Yes, but it's just my opinion.

What I really can't stand is people trying to impose supposition as facts and alter the the facts. I also don't like people trying to create conspiracy theories without any basis to do so, simply to fit into their tailor made excuse for the guy( not saying that's what you are doing).

Facts are he was busted with an illegal pad, with an illegal substance applied to it...... not skin cream, or sweaty hands......designed to be inserted into his wraps. He had one glove on and ready to fight with, the other was having the same thing done when he was caught. They were his hands and he was sitting right there.

Again, you want to believe he was unaware of what his longtime trainer was doing, I can respect that. Because that is something that, without proof of intent on his part, is opinion vs opinion.

I don't suppose to know at this point what would be an appropriate punishment because without knowing for sure that he knew, you can't rightfully stick it in to the hilt.

But, I can imagine the CSAC may have something more than they are letting on. I can also say it would have been in there best interests to sweep this whole mess under the rug because it highlights their inability to properly oversee the pre-fight wrappings. What that all means, your guess is as good as mine.

As long as everyone agrees that the facts are the facts and stops trying to run bull****, I think Margarito would take far less heat on here.( not that it matters)

 

Lets put it this way...Vargas is my 2nd favorite fighter all time, and I can't defend him, so I won't make a thread defending his steroid use, AND Margarito doesn't even make it into my top 20 favorite fighters, but I back Margarito up for the simple reason that I feel he is being singled out by a CORRUPT commission and by haters, unjustly.

 

Didn't Vargas maintain to this day that he unknowingly was given steroids?

 

Look, the elephant in the room is this.

Margarito knows what he did.
Mosley knows what he took.
Vargas knows what he took.
Oscar knows what he took.
Toney knows what he took.
Pryor knows what he took.
Panama Lewis knows what he did.
Holyfield knows what he took.

They are top level athletes and they KNOW what they did. We all sort of turn a blind eye to our guy in the hopes he might actually be some sort of innocent.

They are all ****ing guilty, they are all also human. People do that **** in every sport in the world, it's going to happen in boxing.

 

I think this case depends on how bad the 'cement'/block or whatever it was, was exactly. I initially thought it was possibly there to protect the hands and wouldn't do too much damage to his opponent, which I'd be okay with. But the fact when questioned at the latest hearing, Margarito himself said 'if I hit Mosley with that padding I know he would seriously be hurt', made me positively sick, and I think its quite right he doesn't get reinstated. He could have ruined Cotto because of those wraps (I'm not a 100% he had them for Cotto but he probably did). Yes I believe Marg knew full well what was in his gloves and its far worse than PEDs, its like taking a knife into the ring

Mexicans need to get behind real Mexican warriors like the Marquez Bro's instead, unlike Marg they actually have some skill
