If Cotto is cleanly done with his contract next he's in great shape. A lot of times there is some legal issues going on and there is grey area over when a contract ends or not and I have no idea of Cotto's in in that grey area or its a clean break. After Mayweather and Pacquaio he is one of the top draws in the sport and is making good money per fight, I'd assume he'd look at grabbing a few more big paydays before calling it quits.

If he stays with Top Rank he can make big money fighting Chavez, Pac, or, less likely, a third fight with Margarito. If he goes with GBP or possibly on his own he could fight Mayweather or Alvarez which are also just as big. He needs to beat Margarito though or those other fights become a lot less likely.

When Cotto signs to MP promotions I would rather have him challenge Pac for his 150 lb title. Manny hasnt defended it yet because there are no worthy challengers at 150. Mannys the GOAT at 150 and if Cotto beats him Im sure Manny would be happy to extend his contract.

Win or Lose against Margarito, Cotto should end his career with a last fight against Canelo, I think he would beat him and would go out on an extremely positive note. Because as much as Im rooting for him, Im not that sure he will beat Margarito.

Cotto doesn't have a great personal relationship with Arum but when it comes to business Arum has gotten him some big fights. Hard to say but I think win or lose Cotto leaves TR after this and the way Arum has been praising Robert Garcia I bet he's secretly hoping Margo wins.

Cotto has more skill than Canelo, but he is really a WW. I'm not sure about the size difference in this fight.

Very stable financially, he owns gas stations, apartment complexes, commercial buildings, and his promotional company, which puts together fight cards on a regular basis and they sell very well here in PR. About 2 years ago I read on an article that he is worth 60 million dollars net. So I assume he will be worth more by the time he retires.
