Obviously not. No one in their right mind would turn down that kind of money. I will say this though, if Margo made $20 million for ODLH and another $20+ for Hatton he would still come back and face people like Williams and whoever else was a threat in the division. I think the Cotto fight was his biggest payday yet at $1.5 million plus PPV share which may or may not even reach $4 Million. That's after 15 years of eating punches to the face so no one can deny that he deserves a few big money fights before trying to beat all the up and coming young guns.
Margarito has, in his last 5 fights, given us 4 top 10 welterweights. Mayweather in his whole time at welter fought one top 10 welterweight and cinderella man Baldomir who was in the right place at the right time. He had done nothing else and managed to secure a DLH money fight. It was quite honestly disgusting. Nobody at welter has earned it more. Let Williams fight Cotto, Cintron and Clottey and then he can say he's matched Margarito's accomplishments. Hell if he beats them then he can say he's better. It'd be one thing if he never fought Williams, but there is what kills your argument. He has proven he is not afraid of the man. And seeing that he is 30 years old, never gotten a megafight, he deserves one. Consider how long he has worked at welter, 386 weeks or something like that in Ring magazines top 10. He is the most undervalued, underappreciated welterweight in YEARS. He has earned his megafight and big purse. Mayweather stopped giving a **** about credentials way back at lightweight. And that is why he drew so much criticism for completely ignoring the entire welterweight cast.
Wait a minute, you just touted Margo's horn for taking on 4 top 10 Welters. Well Baldo and and Judah were both top 5 Welters when they fought Floyd. Hatton was a top 10 p4p fighter, and Hoya was a top 3 JMW. Many people try to pump up Quintana based on 1 good win(totally ignoring the fact that he's been destroyed twice by top comp.). Meanwhile, Baldo is completely dismissed despite the fact that he beat the undisputed champ and hadn't lost in 7 years. After he won the belt, he suffered two losses like Quintana. However, he was hardly destroyed in either fight.
Baldomir was in the right place at the right time. Do you honestly see him beating Cotto, Margarito, Clottey or Williams? I sure as hell don't. Maybe he gives Cintron and Quintana a run for their money but I'd be picking against him in all honesty. Baldomir is all chin and nothing else. He had no power, no energy in his legs and was only fighting on courage. 36 years old and weight draining like he was 30. Crazy. Vernon Forrest showed how much of a zombie Carlos Baldomir really is. If old man Vernon Forrest could do it, why the hell would he be a match for Mayweather in the first place? Think about it. And Zab belongs at jr.welter with Ricky Hatton. I'm not even gonna argue about that ****. His one major accomplishment at welter was knocking out Cory Spinks, who got a gift against Mayorga. I know the history and I know how much of a con job it was. So I'm not impressed in any regard.
Of course he will look for money, I already said he and anyone else when they're in a position to demand some big money fights they will go for it. PBF got crap for it, RJJ got crap for it, Tyson, Lewis and the list is endless. These guys want something in the end for dedicating THEIR LIVES into boxing, boxing is their one and only option/job, when these guys get a chance to make big-money fights they will go for them. All this "MONEY AINT EVERYTHING" bull**** started by jokers like Ambition_Def to hate on Mayweather is coming straight out of their asses, if you watch boxing you will realise that money plays a MAJOR role in motivating these guys.
Margarito is all stamina and chin as well, you're not really downgrading Baldomir's abilities at all. If Baldomir is a zombie then what is Margarito? You're not saying anything new there, if all of that doesn't impress you and a win over Cintron did then no matter what the outcomes were you will still pull something out of your ass to make it look bad. Fact is the man was the AVAILABLE undisputed champion so the fight was made, whether you think it was at the right minute/time means nothing here. You also know VERY well that Mayweather's move to Welterweight was hardly for Baldomir at the time(you remember VERY well), it was for Zab Judah who was SO highly regarded that he was the man who scares the hell out of Mayweather every day and night to MANY haters. Floyd couldn't get neither Hatton nor Cotto so he made the move there for the #1 fighter and NO it wasn't Margarito, your rankings means nothing here, sorry. I remember polls on ESB and various boxing sites where votes for Mayweather moving up to fight Zab wiped the floor with votes for Mayweather fighting Hatton so that fight was seeked and the rest is history whether impressive to you or not. You always try to make it sound like this was a "scripted/planned" movie by Mayweather who knew Zab was going to lose and then Baldomir was going to grab the #1 spot(WHICH IS WHAT MAYWEATHER MOVED UP FOR AND NOTHING ELSE), that's what was available, is it Mayweather's fault Margarito wasn't anywhere close to that position?, don't blame Mayweather for it please, blame Margarito.
And Quintana wasn't at the right place at the right time? Why is Baldo so heavilly discredited but not Quintana? Cintron has some power and that's it. The guy struggled with club fighter Feliciano. Yet you always try to hype him up. I wonder why? Now you're being ridiculous. Zab was a top 5 Welter when Floyd fought him, and a former undisputed champ. Yet he doesn't belong at Welter? I don't know if you realise this, but Hatton and Zab are about the same size as Floyd. If they belong at 140, what does that say about Floyd? I bet you wouldn't want to hear any bull**** about Floyd not belonging at 140, if Margo were to beat him. I'm sorry Ambition, but it seems like your bias towards Margo clouds your judgement.
Margo was offered $4 mill to fight Williams. That's not $8 mill. However, Margo's biggest payday so far was 1.6 mill. Floyd's biggest payday when he was offered that $8 mill was $5 million. You do the math.
Scar the bottom line is that Carlos Baldomir and Zab Judah make up Mayweather's 147 pound career. That is by and large pathetic compared to even third string welters. Infact when this round robin is done, there will be at least 4 welters who will **** all over Mayweather's 147lb campaign. And all from the same era. Not that I care. I accept that. It's you joyboys that can't seem to accept that reality. It's really disturbing.
