Mayweather only fought 4 fights at Welter. In those four fights, he managed to win two titles, became the recognized champ and defeated a prime, undefeated, top 10 p4p fighter. Now what 3rd string Welter can say they've done this? Collazo is a second string Welter and he couldn't manage beating Hatton despite coming into the fight as a MW. Now there are certainly other Welters who will end up with a better resume than Floyd at Welter, but they've also fought way more than 4 fights at the weight.

Baldomir, Judah, Mitchell and Hatton. You're so pathetic that you're even COMPLETELY removing Hatton's name as a good win.

I don't give a damn if Margarito or your father will beat Mayweather's 147 record, he seeked the #1 spot, got it and defended it then took off. The man already said he finds it hard to find the motivation to stay and wants a good long break or even premanent retirement and he's getting just that for dedicating his LIFE to the sport. If you think his retirement is because of Cotto and Margarito then you need a reality check.

You know there's something wrong when this guy actually praised Margarito's win over "Six Heads Zero chins" Lewis before and is COMPLETELY writing off Hatton as a legit win. :patsch

Cotto is pretty much already there as I consider fighting a guy and losing worth more than not fighting him at all. Cotto has fought Judah, Margarito, Mosley. And his less important fight against Quintana.

Clottey has fought Margarito, Judah and will probably end up fighting Margarito again.

Williams has fought Margarito, and if he is smart he will diversify his options amongst the top welters to really make a statement. I believe he will do that.

Margarito is already far beyond Mayweather when it comes to 147. His wins over Cotto, Clottey, Lewis, Diaz, Cintron, and others cements his status at 147. 386 consecutive weeks in the Ring magazines top 10 at welterweight confirm it.

I'd say in 3 years tops all four of the above will have done more than Mayweather did (at welter).

Yet it only took Mayweather 4 fights and they need 3 years to compete with that.

The man is already retired, you're typing all your stuff like he's active when he's not.

Hatton was no threat at 147. He was given a life and death struggle by Collazo.

And Sharmba Mitchell is a gimmie fight at the stage that Mayweather fought him. Green Paul Williams got Mitchell right after that. What does that tell you? The guy was a gimmie fight with a little bit of a name. Too small and too old to compete with these welters.

    Excuses.

Mayweather acutally only fought at Welter for 2 years, accumulating 4 fights.

I see nothing wrong with what he's doing...because I have a feeling he'll actually get around to fighting the top challengers.

    1. All ****in fighters want money. Margarito is no exception.

    2. The double standards suck.

"Mayweather fought De la Hoya in 2007, he's a cherry picker."

"Margarito deserves his pay day against a 2008 De la Hoya. Oscar is ducking him."

He was still a very good win whether you want to accept it or not, you know you have some issues when you claim Six heads Lewis is a legit threat/win and Hatton isn't.

Mayweather was considered a cherry picker LONG before the DLH fight.

    Just so you know.

I count Hatton at 140, not 147. Because he had proven jack **** at 147.

And if you like to defend Mayweather you will go along with that. Bringing it up as though it was some marvel at 147 is a joke.

I have not denied that. Critics have existed for a long time.

    The double standard persists.
