Margarito is nothing but a gatekeeper in the welterweight division

Who was Cotto at the time that he lost to Margarito?

He wasn't the recognized welterweight champion ... all those guy were gunning for a shot at PBF ... the p4p king and the recognized, true, linear, undefeated welterweight champion.

If they were any better or had better handler, they wouldve been in position to become the "champion" of the division.

Cotto beat Judah and Mosley ... thats it ... all his victories at junior welter don't compare to Floyd's dismantle of Ricky Hatton ... and considering that he never got a chance to win the welterweight "championship" his campaign at welter doesn't compete to Floyd's either ... and if i'm not mistaken ... neither Cotto nor Margarito have a super welterweight title either.

Their credentials don't stack up ... i'm sorry Margarito and Cotto fans !!

3 - linear titles ... Cotto and Margarito have none ...

4 - victories over linear champions ... Cotto and Margarito have none

 

I'm sorry you're upset and that you can't make a relevent case to why Margarito isn't a gatekeeper ...

He's nothing but the welterweight version of Verno Phillips ... he hasn't beat anyone of notiriaty and only has one big name on his resume ... while Floyd has faced 3 hall of famers in a row ... and if Pacquiao comes to fight and loses then that would make 4.

PPV numbers have flopped since he retired ... boxing media is still bringing his name up and he's on the tongue of all you guys whenever a big "dream" match is proposed.

You guys can't accept the fact that he's undefeated and want him desperately to lose ... (eva longoria types)

I'm not a troll, i'm just stating the facts and thats something that none of you guys can argue is facts, because they're set in stone and will forever remain in boxing's history.

Even for the WBO 154 title? ... in which it could set up a rematch with Daniel Santos and a possible rematch with Martinez ... which would make him the ring champ and undisputed in the division ... no ... his handlers are talking about Pacquiao ... and Cotto ... no serious big welters ... just guys who are smaller than him.

its obvious that Margarito's a gatekeeper, because even though that Williams has beaten everyone he's faced, in the eyes of network TV ... he's unproven, not marketable, and can't get a big fight ... what does that say about his win over Margarito?

 

Margarito doesn't want to end this new wave, thats why he doesn't want to face Williams or Santos ...

Mayweather doesn't have that problem ... you see he's undefeated !!

 

To get to where Mayweather, Pacquiao, DLH, Mosley, Leonard, Hearns, and Jones ... Margarito would have to atleast win a super middleweight, if not a HW title before its all said and done ... and who knows how much more he has in the tank, especially considering his 5 L's.
