First of all Cotto quit. He took a knee and then he basically ran away from Margarito giving signs to his corner that he didnt want to fight anymore. They say he is a warrior but warriors fight till the end. Secondly, Margarito is the man. Underdog comes out in the first couple rounds getting hit by some big punches that im sure hurt him but he always kept coming forward. Mentally he was breaking down Cotto by basically saying that his punches were ****. He worked his way up through the rankings after a long tough career but he finally proven himself to be a true contender in the welterweight division. Margarito overcame all odds and now its on to bigger and better things. As for Cotto he should continue fighting C+ fighters or washed up fighters.
While I never thought Cotto was the best before this is the first fight of Cottos that I was actually rooting for him in a big way. Margarito did his job better but hes not the best.. was he "the man" against clottey for the first half of the fight? was he "the man" against daniel santos or against paul williams? lol he has very limited abilities but he makes up for it with other intangibles
I was probably one of the top 5% Cotto haters on this board before this fight, but the disrespect hes been getting for last night is insane. Im curious is it because you people betted on him?
cotto fought a great fight. he was just overpowered. I don't think some dumba$$es on this board really understand how tough Margarito is.
While you don't want to call anyone who steps into a ring, especially margo. But if really want call it than what cotto was exhibiting was exhibiting a chump-like heart out there. all that inproper back-peddling only showed it early and throughout and then the THREE attemptds to quit comfirmed it. so yeah cotto indeed is a *****.
dude's not a *****. He's a good fighter that lost to the better man. he was getting battered in the late rounds.
the thing that bothers me most is the amount of people that describe cotto with a lot of heart. he's tough but he has no heart. ever since he was hurt in the 7-8th round he was never the same. he was defensive and was avoiding margarito the rest of the fight. fighters with heart like gatti or morales never gave up. they would rather get knocked out then quit.
I predicted that liitle cotto would be brutally ktfo, but he avoided that. With punk ass hasim quiting a week ago and now a cotto doin the same no wonder folks are getting into mma. Cotto proved that by employing a strategy to run rather than fight like he did every other bout. once I seen cotto's "fight" plan I knew it would a matter of time before that 0 went in the worst way.
Totally agree. The punks who attack him for "quitting" are way out of bounds, imo. Margarito beat the living daylights out of him, and he still got up the last time, and was ready to continue if the corner hadn't stopped it. Sure, he was gonna get starched, but he was on his feet ready to take his medicine. IMO, Cotto showed a lot of heart in this fight.
