I mean realistically... if you take away his first 4 losses...

the overall consensus of this fight might be 50/50... no edge to cotto

I say that from the recent threads I have been reading Cotto is being underestimated because Margo is theorized to simply overwhelm is smaller opponent. But that guy happens to be Cotto who is a more complete fighter and is more versatile with more skills. I do not disagree with you too in that there are threads that also discredit Margo too. All I will say that July 26th will answer all our questions. May the best man win.

I guess what I am getting at is that Margarito's style does not suit Cotto well.

People like to say it's making excuses but to those people I call bull****.

Not many guys are gonna go over to a foreign nation and fight a champion who is 15lbs over the weight limit on fight night.

Not many guys would step into the ring to fight Paul Williams on the eve of their first big payday.

Not many guys are going to step into the ring at 16 years old to fight grown men, with much more boxing experience as a pro.

Margarito has himself to blame for the losses true, but this is also what you should understand about him. He fears no man. He will go into that ring and take Cotto into hell without flinching. Cotto has had his trips into hell before but this time he's going all the way. Margarito is no joke.

I just finished watching HBO's countdown to Margarito vs Cotto. They did a spectacular job.

Antonio Margarito is a guy that deserves a lot of respect for the way he has campaigned as a professional athlete.

At the age of 17, he was fighting grown men and despite getting defeated and knocked down, he still had enough heart back then to refuse to lose by stoppage.

Some natural fighters such as Wilfred Benitez can be world champions at 17, but that is no slight on Antonio.

He did it the hard way and anybody who says he doesn't belong in the ring with Cotto are wrong. He had paid his dues, and he deserves the pay day.

The show really made me a fan of Margarito, and I've always felt he has a genuine shot at upsetting Miguel Cotto.

In the words of Larry Merchant, "The world would be a better place if there were more Antonio Margarito's".

I replaced Manny Pacquiao's name, obviously.

    Goodluck Marg.

respect for that PRIDE avatar. thats just great work. :good

anyway, i like Margaritos chances of beating Cotto better than anyone else Cotto has faced but i think the speed difference is whats going to be the deciding difference in this fight.

i think Cotto is too fast and he'll win because of it.

I think he is being underestimated and will hurt Cotto come fightnight, the thing is that Cotto will also lay a whooping on Margarito, I have COTTO via TKO 11th.

I wouldnt be surprised if we had a rematch, it will that good of a fight.

Antonio Margarito will finish his career never having been stopped if he doesn't fight on forever like Holyfield.

At age 16, grown men couldn't even knock this guy out.

Margarito is a grown man now and with all of the experiance under his belt, I just don't see anybody at welterweight stopping him.

The man has to much heart and resolve.

I'm not underestimating Margarito, but in fact I'm very confident in Cotto.. It will be a good tough fight for both and Margo is a hell of a fighter, but I just think Cotto will win this fight clearly..

    I think you've confused underestimated with over-rated.
