he is definately being underrated but i still think Cotto's gonna win. Margarito is no slouch and he had a bad night against Williams. And I thought he beat Santos, and also that if the ref didn't stop the fight he was gonna win it. And the 3 losses in his early years before he even turned 18 are insignificant.
No one disputes that Margarito is tough and fearless, willing to take up any challenge. His size, athleticism and ring attitude would moreover pose problems for any boxer. Conversely, he's limited skilled and somewhat slow-footed by WW standards and wide, not concussive, ok jab, not one a boxer of Cotto's calibre wouldn't be able to move inside of; a looping uppercut that could turn lethal whenever his opponent lunges in, head first. Resume? Nothing to write home about; has a unique chance to gild it anew on July 26th or confirm for good his B-Level status should he lose. He had the balls to fight a big WW like Williams but it's not Williams' size that contributed most to Margarito's loss; it was the circling movement. It's more than possible to throw Margarito off balance and, at the same time, reduce his workrate. Anyway...
nobody gives a **** about the fact that he shitted on cintron... EVERYONE knew that was going to happen... cintron was over rated & over hyped as soon as he knocked out mattyhese hes just a rough and tough fighter and has been succesful recently
How ever Cintron did a much better job with Mattyhese than did Paul Williams, but answer me this "Walk with me" who would win in a fight between Cintron and Baldimor?
theres no way to measure success of how much better Fighter A and Fighter C beat Fighter B... as long as the fighter wins its a bad idea.. styles make fights so its irrelevant really paul wiliams tko'd sharmba mitchell in 4 floyd williams tko'd sharmba mitchell in 6 so paul williams > floyd mayweather? definitely not.. thats neither here nor there though a fight between baldomir and cintron... i really have no clue ive only seen baldomir fight twice and cintron fight 3-4 times... i think there both garbage to be honest
I wouldnt say better than Mayweather in terms of status and what FLoyd has been able to accomplish, I would say that Williams probably beats Mayweather, he is just too big, is a south paw and can take a shot and deliver one as well.
I should hope you dont underestimate Cotto he is skilled, fast and can hit. But the one thing that impresses me is, he has heart.
I agree the man has the tools to beat anybody, but if you look at his stance there are just too many openings much more than Margarito infact. Look at how open Cottos body is, and lets not pretend that Cotto is not open for Uppercuts, look at Tonys elbows always tucked into them ribs, limiting Cottos body work. When Cotto has been seriously hurt by Torres and by Corley, it was either and uppercut or a shot to the temple infact I think the temple shot is key for Tony with his long right hand. Zab was able to hurt Cotto true, but it wasnt close to the way Torres and Corley buzzed him.
Watch the Clottey fight and tell me he is being underestimated. If anything, he is being overestimated.
Miguel Cotto has never looked remotely vunerable? Not against Corley, Torres, and most certainly Judah who hurt him with every right hand he landed. Neither fighters are perfect, but don't just come out with past fights of Margarito. Cotto has his moments also.
To Ambition Def: Dude, I thought I'd take the time to point this out just for the heck of it. I've been following your posts concerning Margarito...and guess what: we think so much alike! It's like I want to post something, but if I do....I'll be sounding redundant. You, sir, know what the hell you're talking about. Margarito all the way!! Consider this another pro-Margarito post! 07/26/08 can't come soon enough!!
