the thing is Cotto hits really hard, but obviously not on par with a guy like Santos.

But with the amount of flush shots Margarito was taking, normally even if Cotto didn't hit that hard, most guys would have been ktfo.

 

Margo probably just has a lot more natural lean muscle mass which makes it easier to lose water weight. Cotto just has more body fat seeing as he weighed 160lbs at age 13 or so he's probably a endomorph by nature.

Clottey is a featherfisted puncher but with good accuracy and handspeed although lacking in volume. If you are familiar with his opponents you would realize that you can count the times he has knocked out an opponent with a winning record on the fingers of one hand.

Knocking out 16 of opponents who have absolutely terrible losing records or never won a fight is not too impressive even in Ghana. He's probably a lighter hitter than even someone like Collazo.

 

The Baldomir punch was a funny one. Judah turned away and was hit by surprise. I think that was just one of the hardest right hands Baldomir has ever landed. He isn't known for power but neither is Jameel McCline. Yet look what McCline did to Peter.

I'm certain that Cotto can punch hard enough to hurt most welters. It just so happens that Margarito is a tank. I can't see Cotto hurting Paul "I'm really a Middleweight" Williams either.

 

Margarito is saying he's fought much harder punchers... like Cintron and Santos for example... he's not saying he's fought loads of bigger punchers and Cotto can't punch.

Yeah, he respected his power so much that he set an all-time compubox record by throwing 1675 punches with no regard for Clottey's counterpunching.
