Yeah, it looked like Margarito was trying to outbox Cotto and get in a jab fest with him. :patsch I agree with you, he is gonna hit Cotto with everything until he gets his stoppage. :bbb

Gomez was in with Manfredo Jr who fights at 168lbs so no surprise that Gomez said he's fought guys who hit harder. The point of citing Cotto's fights against Gomez and Quintana was the damaging blows that were delivered that resulted in stoppages. Those 2 guys have never been stopped before and although that isn't always the measurement of a big puncher, it is in this case because of the type of shots that Cotto was able to land.

IMO Cotto delivered the harder punches in his fight with Margarito AND IS the harder puncher.

You're kidding me with this **** about Gomez and Quintana. The doctor stopped the Alfonso "I Have The Worst Balance In Professional Boxing" Gomez fight, NOT a true stoppage. And Quintana was hit squarely in the middle of his back, went down, and quit on the stool moments later in between rounds, NOT a true stoppage. Again, these are not demonstrations of punching power, these are demonstrations of good strategy and dedication to body destroying. Cotto doesn't have the clean stoppages on shots to the body, or the head, without accumulation, or in even reasonably high numbers overall, period.

And now you're saying that Cotto hits harder than Margarito??? LMAO!!! Nothing in their records, results, statements, or fights themselves would indicate that. Either you don't know **** about these two fighters, or you don't know **** about boxing itself, to even say something like that. But you're a good persistent debater, I'll give you that.

just because marg tko'd him, doesn't mean he hits harder. i myself, as a big fan of both believe that cotto hits harder, but margarito imo can be hit harder than cotto can be hit, and still be fine. though i give margarito the edge in terms of physical strength.

Margarito throws wide punches that can be seen. The effectiveness of his punches aren't the force behind them, but the amount that are thrown which come from all angles and from both hands. He wears down his opponents with volume and demoralized them with his ability to consistently take their best shots.

Cotto throws the straighter punches and delivers with more force. Im not saying the the HBO guys the best analysts but if my memory serves me correct they even cited that Cotto was landing the harder blows.

At best Margo is the the 4th biggest puncher of any welter behind Cintron, Berto and Cotto. :deal

Gomez took some serious hits from Cotto. Since he's fought bigger guys, he might just have a pretty good beard as well. But Cotto's body shots when they hit their mark....MAN!! I love good body punching, and he's just a machine at times.

If he can time Margarito's punches enough, to slip a liver shot when Margarito's elbow isn't covering it, the rematch could be pretty interesting. It was apparent his body attack wasn't there, but hell, if you're getting enough clean head shot that snao the guys head back, can see why Cotto didn't do more work. He probably thought a KO might come the way he kept landing clean. But even if Cotto realized that a little to late, Margarito turned up the heat too much. Can't wait for the rematch!

There is no fight I'm anticipating more, right with you on that, Lance. I expect the second one to be even better. The first one was classic, too. This is going to be incredible, I've got my fingers crossed it comes off.
