Yeah, I remember laughing at the poll how one-sided it was, now it's like FULL of Margarito by KO/TKO picks, the poll looked something like the Margarito by decision picks, very very few with Margarito.

    Here are the reasons:

    1) Trinidad fought Mayorga because Mayorga was hot back then and well known, not to forget that Trinidad was coming off a year lay-off and after it he fought Winky Wright of all people yet you're possibly hinting that even Trinidad is scared of Margarito?. Now please answer me this question, who was Margarito in 2004 and who did he beat to be a better fight than Mayorga for Trinidad?

    2) DLH was also coming off 2 years of inactivity and wanted a tune-up type of fight. Also, last I checked DLH is a Junior Middleweight and Mayorga had the WBC title in that division. What did Margarito have in that division?, a loss to Santos he isn't interested to avenge.

    3) Floyd Mayweather turned down 8 million and the reason is because there was another 8 million to make fighting the lineal champion and #1 fighter in the division in Baldomir. Please note that there was a unified WBC/WBA/IBF champion in this very same division for YEARS and the titles dropped because Baldomir refused to pay sanctioning fees for the IBF/WBA. Where was Margarito when a unified champion was around?, the entire division ducked him?

    4) DLH picking Pacquiao over AM at this point is obvious, he wants the real big names that could offer a lot. Sadly, Margarito isn't one of those names and one major win over Cotto isn't enough compared to many major wins for Mayweather(who DLH fought) and Pacquiao who has a lot of major wins as well. Wake me up when Margarito is announced #1 P4P then we'll be talking.

    Good luck ignoring this post.

The people who picked Cotto to outbox Margarito to a victory maybe. I don't think anyone expected Margarito to outbox Cotto, if you know what I mean. Fights are 12 rounds. If someone picked Cotto to "outbox" Margarito, that wasn't a good pick. Everyone outboxes Margarito, even guys like Sebastian Lujan. Wow, Lujan "outboxed" Margarito. That would have been a good pick, right?

in a rematch, if cotto wins 1 more round, and then lasts one more round without going down... you realise he wins the fight right?

but regardless of what ifs... am i seriously understanding this as, people who picked cotto to win should somehow be ashamed LOL!!!

give me a break.... this is boxing, it was cotto vs margarito... OF COURSE cotto is going to be the favorite in that point in time,

YES... because a lot of people thought he would outbox margarito and last the distance to see it through... or would be ****ing margarito up so bad with hard accurate shots that like every other cotto opponent just about, margaritos face would lead to a tko stoppage...

both could have happened... and both could happen in a rematch, but woulda coulda shoulda, margarito won a badass epic of a fight

but this juvenile 'oh oh i picked this fight right and all you picked it wrong' in a fight like THIS? i mean... i could understand in some fights, but idk... its just lost on me for this one. I picked cotto to win the fight.... but margarito won, lol... i sure as hell dont feel stupid for picking cotto, and i dont think anyone but the few people who for some reason thought he would truly beat the living **** out of margarito and stop him before the half should somehow feel like they made a bad pick.

then again maybe you just want credit for picking the fight right... idk... just seems a little ridicoulas to me is all. but props for picking the winner... i think in my prediction thread only like 5 out of 40 maybe picked margarito... but i hardly think those that picked cotto should feel stupid about their pick.

    meh

I see Cotto using his superior boxing ability to win the 1st half of the fight (maybe 4-2) then Margarito starts to get to him, pressing him , taking Cotto`s best shots but landing more of his own until the fight is just about even going into rd 10 or 11 then I see Cotto crumbling from the persistant accumulation of punches, he may get up but Margarito will put him down once more before the towel comes in or the ref waves it off as a cut up & tired looking Cotto walks slowly back to his corner.

Honestly, I thought Cotto would win fairly confortably, maybe even stop Margo! This fight taught me a lot...:deal

Seems like there were about 40 who voted after the fact and 30 of those in the Margo by KO/TKO category. Quite a few people picked Margo by stoppage originally because it was a no-brainer. Styles make fights.

I see your point and I partially agree.
But even if Margarito was one of those big names that could offer a lot, I still don't think DLH would fight him right now, for obvious reasons.

He's a dangerous excellent fighter, that one loss doesn't change that it just means he ran into a better man, he will come back from it I hope and if he loses to Margarito there are others he could fight and beat out there.
