By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing (May 6, 2011) Doghouse Boxing Antonio Margarito is not having an easy time with an eye injury he recieved last year in November when he fought and lost to Manny Pacquiao. According to a report in the LA Times, Margarito is set to undergo an eye examination next week. Its possible that the eye injury (to his right eye) could stop Margarito from ever fighting again. Boxing Promoter Bob Arum, quoted in the LA Times had this to say: "The eye is still giving him trouble; it has not completely healed." Robert Garcia who is Margarito's trainer and close friend is worried over the injury Garcia stated: "It's hard to think that he'll have to maybe quit like this when there's still million-dollar paydays out there for him. I always tell these guys to invest their money when they get it, because that next big fight might never come. This is a big hit. He's a close friend."
I hope that if he has got eye trouble then he retires and his health comes first everytime...:good I hope that he has invested his money wisely...:deal
if garcia is really that worried he woulda pulled him out. he knew margo would never quit but has now potentially lost the guy multi million dollar paydays. he had no chance of wiining, pull him out, he can have another chance, another day margo is a piece of **** anyway
I find it quite amusing when Garcia says: "It's hard to think that he'll have to maybe quit like this when there's still million-dollar paydays out there for him. This content is protected , because that next big fight might never come. This is a big hit. He's a close friend." Not an expert trainer or anything, but wouldn't it be a better idea to throw in the towel to prevent 4/5 extra rounds of unnecessary punishment? I'm pretty certain that had he been pulled out earlier, the damage would not have been as bad. I despise that piece of ****, Margarito, but thank God for Pacquiao and his compassion for him in the ring that night. He could have bashed his face in far worse than he did.
