To my surprise ESPN showed some coverage of next Saturday's HBO fight between Margarito and Mosely this morning. I was very happy to see it but a bit dissapointed they only interviewd Mosely. How much do you guys think ESPN could help boxing become a mainstream sport, and what else can the people in the boxing industry do to improve this?
ESPN could put legit fight cards and actually slow it on a flagship station in HD instead in SD on ESPN2. ESPN could also get some real analyst for the fight, scrap Joe Tesitorre, but him in the studio. Get Brian Kenny, B-Hop, and Bert Sugar to be the commentators on FNF, show the fights on ESPN. That is all ESPN has to do. The main thing is getting rid of Teddy Atlas though.
You mean you're not a fan of his, "X has to take Y into deep waters, where he's never been before, like a shark, and drown him," discussions?
"X has to be all the way in...or all the way out. Because if doesn't he'll get caught no man's land, where he's in range for BING! Y's erasa...the powa. X knows he's not a big banga, he doesn't have TNT in gloves like Y, so he has to remain true to form and keep a calm temperament, remain "fundamently solitt" and go home with a "solitt" win on the "recourd.' This should be one our great fans at home watching..should enjoy."
