Margarito-Mosley Revisited

Williams Cintron twice and Cotto softened Margo up. His brain must be Jell-O by now. Mosley was the icing on the cake.

Look how damn sloppy Mosley was in that fight and also the Mayorga fight. He ain't near what he was in his prime

I'm glad you told me...I sure was thinking about that on how he's constanly making excuses for Margorito and blaming Shane for something he didnt do.

i agree, Margo was not himself that night.

1. he drained himself to make 147.
2. his plasters were gone so that diminished his confidence about his power.
3. he is a slow fighter but in this fight he looked a lot more sluggish.
4. you can easily tell his mind is wandering and not focused for the fight. he might be thinking about the humiliating fact that he got caught and could be penalized for his plasters.
5. it didn't help that Mosley was using a good strategy in this fight

 

Margo was nowhere near 100% that night. He looked weak and demoralized from the sound of the first bell.

Can't hate on Mosley for capitalizing on every inch that was given to him even though I think he got too much credit for that fight. But, couple that with his performance against Collazo and you gotta put him at least at the 2 spot at WW.

 

Mosley took a page out of the Hopkins vs PAvlik book that night.

 

SSM is a stylistic nightmare for Margarito.

1. No-one in history walks SSM down to get to him. You must be able to box and counter-punch to beat him. SSM is a beast and can KTFO almost anyone at his weight.

2. AM only knows one way to fight, take punishment to give it.

SSM knew AM was coming to him and waited and opened up on him. AM is not a great boxer, his defence is non-existent and Mosely can throw excellent combinations. End of story.

Funny how I predicted AM would win though.

 

Shane beats him worse if they fight again...TONY CANT MESS WITH A SLICKSTER WITH GOOD HANDSPEED AND THE ABILITY TO MOVE ALOT

 

Oh, Mosley was juicing for this fight also? Should have known.

 

With all do respect to Fischer and his dedication to boxing I just can't believe what he says in this one. Margarito and his team did mention being drained then again they told Cintron to move down if he wanted a rematch when Margarito was the one who lost to him, so weight was definitely mentioned by the Margarito camp. The sparring stories I won't take seriously, everyone knows Fischer is a huge Margarito fan and has been one of many to consider Margarito an unstoppable force, so creating excuses makes sense to save face and keep people "clicking" at articles written by him. All do that when a fighter they spent years praising falls and falls hard.

What happened in this fight is Mosley's positioning, Mosley had Margarito in positions where Margarito CAN'T set his self to throw punches with power/snap behind them and constantly did it EASILY. You can see Margarito confused and frustrated in round two, the first round Margarito was stunned and slightly hurt by punches to the body AND face. The mentality was definitely there but Mosley just didn't allow him to apply and constantly did it. Everyone knew Mosley HAS the tools and skills to do that but everyone also knew Mosley was old and no one expected him to be able to keep applying that for as long as he did with snap/power and speed behind his work. If Margarito went in that fight as the favorite then he did so based on age, nothing else.

 

The sparring stories were echoed by a credible poster on another site I frequent, so I think there's some truth to them.
