many articles and topics have been writting about how cotto got punish by margarito... Im just wondering if the accumulation of punches that margarito received from cotto before his tremendous victory have finally caught up to him as well??? since him and his managers have decided to call off 2008 and a match against clottey, stating that the cotto fight was very tough and they need more time... I know many would say margarito ate those punches and didnt even buckle... but in the later years could this affect him in future fights such as reflexes???

    Rest up bro.
Nah, IMO the layoff is due to the fact that Margarito is running ****!
he can sit back and watch the division unfold now, he did his part.

nice avatar. :good i was at that fight and man i couldn't figure out how margarito could just walk through so many of those brutal punches from cotto. he would have to be some kind of freak for them not take SOMETHING out of him long-term. then again, it's margarito and he's pretty much a freak when it comes to taking punishment. not really sure if that has anything to do with him not fighting clottey though. i dont think that has to do with it, but i haven't heard enough on the subject...

That could be true if Margie was a "Rock em Sock em" robot.

Truth is that he is human and subject to wear and tear like anyone
else...just because his tolerance is higher in receiving punches...could
be a bad thing in the long run...( apparently in the shortrun as we are
seeing with this backing out of the Clottey fight ).

Margie is a human not a superman.
Eating punches like he did against Cotto will show affect...
    today or tomorrow.

Anyway I look forward to the rematch in the summer of 2009.

I garauntee you it will be a different fight.

I did say that.....apparently you didn't read why.

I said there will be no rematch if it was up to Margie.

Margie does not want to see Cotto again!!!

He was a little banged up but not that bad.

Margarito and his people have a notorious rep for taking a solid fight and then doing nothing for months on end. This seems to be another sign of that behavior, unfortunately.

I just hope it doesn't bite him in the ass as bad as it did back in 06 when he fought Clottey. A bad showing or losing can set him right back. I guess they didn't learn their lesson then.

If he had taken the Clottey fight and did well there, he would have been a surefire bet for FoTY. Now I'm not so sure. A great year, but could have been better.

True. Mijares will probably take it if he beats Darchinyan. Pac will definately take home the honors if he beats Hoya. If both loose, Margo will probably take it.

Margie said when confronted in P.R about honoring the rematch...
he said, " I will fight whoever my promoter puts in front of me..."

Well, Clottey was put in front of him and he backed out.

It is just his out for not honoring the rematch...

That is why I say if it is up to Margie there will be no rematch.

I initially gave Margie props after the fight...however, after observing
his behavior afterwards...he acts more like a loud talking ***** .
    Rather than a champ.

    Bozo!!!!
