Margarito on Mosley rejection!
    Friday, November 21 2008
    By Gabriel F. Cordero
"Mosley is not all to continue with my career," says WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito. Earlier this week "The Tijuana Tornado" rejected a two million dollar offer to defend against the three-division former world champion Sugar Shane Mosley. "De La Hoya didn't keep his word, went around me, made excuses, and in the end didn't have seriousness in his words," said Margarito. "I am doing exactly the same thing, so they can't complain." The possibility exists that Margarito would carry out a defense in Mexico or the USA before a likely rematch with Miguel Cotto with a probable date of June 2009. Mosley's promoter Golden Boy Promotions issued a scathing press release to Spanish-language media calling Margarito "scared" among others things for refusing to meet Mosley on January 24th. Mosley is now expected to face WBC champ Andre Berto.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

    OK two things:

#1 He chastises DLH for not fighting him, when he turns down a career high payday to face Paul Williams and avenge he only recent loss.

#2 He disrepects a legendary fighter in Mosley ,calling him all types of names. He wastes many peoples' time, including his own overseeer Arum, in negotiating this fight, upsetting the fans by saying he wants to fight Mosely, and then backing out.

And this is suppose to hurt Oscar??:patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch

There are few reasons for this absolutely boneheaded action: Either his completely incompetent management put him up to this, they actually saw Mosley as a very real threat and decided not to fight him, or Margo's head has gotten really big since he thinks he is THE MAN now.

Either way, Margo has burned alot of bridges and very few will want to even bother to deal with him now.

I hope he likes fighting Top Rank fighters for the rest of his career, because no other promoter will risk being made to look foolish by putting their fighter in with a dangerous guy, who may pull out of the fight anyway.

The only excuse I will grant him is if those punches Cotto hit him with did more damage than we realized.

Congrats Margo: Your are now officially Compukiller's "Mamaluke of the Year".

That's what I'm not getting. It's not like he's turning down 250K paydays against no name opposition.

2 mil against Mosley, 4 mil against Paul Williams...that's a combined 6 mil rejected. My question is whose he going to fight to get close to that?

What is he holding out for?

I knew Marg winning the Cotto fight wouldnt mean much or do much for boxing.... Thats why i wanted Cotto to win so bad = set up for better fights and birth of a superstar.

Cotto may beat him in the rematch, which would totally derail the Margo train

Watch the Margarito fans find a way to make, even this with all the proofs available, it sound like Mosley is the one doing the ducking.

If a Williams, who already beat him, is still labeled a "chicken" and "scared" despite all the proof out there and career high payday that the WINNER is running after the loser then this one is nothing.

damn i never expected this

he would have said "at this point in our careers i deserve a bigger split than Mosley" and i would have defended it.

No one, everyone should now wait and bow down to Margarito as he finally got one major win worth mentioning after the years as a professional and no one is good enough to step in the ring with him anymore.

    Fighters that beat him included.

The entire welterweight division has fallen apart. Margarito is turning down fights left n right, Clottey is without an opponent, Cotto seems set to take on some warm up fights then give Margo another go (ballsy but unneccessary) and Williams is moving up in weight.

Pretty soon the only active welterweight will be Manny friggin Pacqiuao
