I have no doubt that Cotto will come back, however the Pacquiao example isn't even close to this one. Cotto got broken down physically and BADLY in that fight then knocked out. Pacquiao was there and was actually doing serious damage even in the final round.

 

Possibly, so far it's looking horrible.

 

Well Morales went southpaw in that last round and opened himself up to that sort of thrashing

Cotto could come back but the fact is he can't overcome the size and strength advantage that Margo brings with him. Unless he manages to learn how to clinch more effectively (possible) then he might be in deep ****.

 

At least Floyd HAD big fights on the horizon with Oscar and Hatton

Yeah, I know Morales opened up to it but I'm just pointing out that Pacquiao wasn't finished not even for a second in that fight, which is why I mentioned the last round, a round most fighters are exhausted in yet Manny was still throwing serious bombs.

Margarito's style is just wrong for Cotto, an aggressive fighter he can't hurt is basically a nightmare for someone in Cotto's ability.

The thing that helped Williams against Margo as that when he executed the same strategy that Cotto did (building up a points lead and then just weathering the storm), He clinched a lot more. I think Cotto has too much pride to clinch and thus it costs him. If he ties Margarito up before Margo can do a lot of damage he could win a decision.

My point was that he doesn't have to fight Margarito again, especially with a large list of contenders sitting around waiting to be fought. To take Margarito agaij either shows a lack of brains or an excess of balls. I'll let you decide which you think he has

 

The Baldomir fight is also overlooked, Baldomir was still the official #1 fighter who beat insanely hyped Judah back then. It goes like this DLH-Mosley-Forrest-Mayorga-Spinks-Judah-Baldomir. It's not Mayweather's problem Baldomir doesn't impress others, in reality he won just like Judah won against Spinks and Spinks over Mayorga and Mayorga over Forrest and Forrest over Mosley and Mosley over DLH. It's not Mayweather's problem Baldomir's win wasn't insanely hyped as the rest of the wins. So that win should be considered too as it was a win over the best in the division, it's not also NOT Mayweather's problem Margarito skipped ALL those fighters mentioned yet Mayweather moves up to Welterweight seeking the top man who only after two fights he got it signed. Watch the Margarito fans come and claim an entire division ducked him.

 

I like Margarito but this is just a plain childish excuse.

Right now, I believe he is afraid that Mosley offers a bad stylistic match-up for him, and won't take a risk as he prepares for a rematch with Cotto.

My perception will only change if he fights a more credible opponent that Mosley at this point.

 

Is that the David Diaz beat Santa Cruz who beat Casamayor who beat Corrales who beat Castillo thus Diaz>Castillo argument.

Baldomir was another title..but a guy who moves like butterbean was in no way shape or form a threat to a mentally focused fighter like Floyd. Don't mention Zab because I said MENTALLY FOCUSED.

Zab was a much bigger win for Floyd than Stonehenge.

 

Yeah that fight was a great fight, a fight/night I will never forget, the undercard was top class too Arce/Hussein.

About having too much pride to hold on, it requires brains and I don't see how his pride not to hold on helped him after the fight with all the people completely ignoring that and calling him a quitter. You do what you have to do to win in boxing.

About now having to fight Margarito again, yeah that's very true sadly he will have to sooner or later as it's a loss he has to deal with and a brutal loss too, though I'm sure if he skips on it and goes on for other options that loss will be forgotten but we know Cotto has the balls and will sign for it anyway. Did Margarito even attempt to avenge at least ONE out of FIVE losses?, the answer is no and he gets away with it with ease, I assure you if Cotto took the same approach he will be eaten alive with the insults and criticism.

#1 - margarito is an idiot= who does this guy think he is turning down everyone left and right for these idiotic reasons.... its a sport not goddamn high school musical 3....

#2 - paul williams is gone= its interesting paul williams seems to be leaving the division at this time. The welterweight division has turned into a joke pretty much because of dumb ass margarito denying everyone

#3 - black ball margarito = this guy is a clown who is abusing his privledges and i hope after this situation he gets black balled by the rest of the fighters and never gets a big match ever again

 

Stupid move and also a bad move by Margarito but the BS he is getting is exagerated.
